UKG delivers cloud-based HCM solutions including UKG Pro that help businesses simplify payroll computations, accelerate talent acquisition, manage time and attendance, and support proactive, strategic talent management on a global level.
UKG Pro was just much too big for what we needed. It seemed a bit overwhelming. While they say it is customizable, the thought of having to get it to where we wanted it was overwhelming.
Switching to Paylocity has been a game-changer for us, especially when it comes to clocking in without a hitch - it's been error-free! The platform is super user-friendly, too. You know how some systems make you jump through hoops just to find the clock-in button? Well, with …
I think Paylocity is a more rudimentary HRIS system than UKG. There are pros and cons to each. I have found that Paylocity is great for the employee facing pieces. It makes it easy for the employee to make changes themselves through the self service features. The one thing I …
Friendlier user interphase. It is easier to automate manual, time-consuming tasks and customize workflows to streamline all the areas of the organization. It keeps employees connected Effortlessly, with communication and collaboration tools they actually enjoy using. Paylocity …
UKG customer service was outstanding! ADP Resource, besides the system also provided non-system HR related information and trainings free for your company. It was a great partnership. I do not get that with Paylocity.
They did not offer much more than Paylocity was already giving us and implementation had negative reviews from other users. Very similar functionality for UKG, less functionality for Paycom.
I like Paylocity way more than UKG. I think Paylocity is much easier to navigate, train employees on, and use. In my opinion, UKG was harder to navigate, creating processes in their system was awkward and felt like you needed to have an IT degree. Paylocity in contrast has been …
Selected Paylocity based on pricing and the belief that their product was as good if not better than the other offerings. Having used UKG, Workday and Ceridian in the past personally, I can safely say we were wrong in that assumption.
Paylocity is a nice middle ground between functionality and cost. You get everything you need and more for a reasonable amount per month. They also don't nickel and dime you for add-ons which we liked. I will say that for over 500 employees, I like UKG the best, but they are …
I am actively vetting other systems. I'm looking for a system with a unified database, position seat management, and more robust reporting. While the all other systems I mentioned don't meet all these requirements, some do. What it has shown, is that Paylocity is lagging behind …
I used ADP for 20 plus years and became a certified user. I used UKG for two years and now Paylocity. Being an ADP user for so many years I tend to compare its features with others. ADP is by far a superior product but with that comes a superior price tag.
Workday is too complicated to set up and is easily implemented with errors that won't be found until used. UKG is an old platform and can be very clunky to use as an administrator. ADP has limited functionality for benefits.
We had Paylocity previously and felt that UKG was much more robust. I believe UKG is better but can be harder to use at times especially the back end step-up of certain things.
Company tried moving to Paylocity prior to UKG, but it did not have the ability to handle the data and organizational set up of the company. UKG was able to offer a better system for our needs and the support they provided allowed us to develop new processes to increase our …
Paylocity was a totally different system. Paylocity was very responsive to the needs of organizations. When we say we need the software to do something, I know that they are working on it in the background and I will see it in the near future. The software is easy to use and …
We made it through the entire implementation process with Paylocity before finding out that the system could not handle our mileage tracking and reimbursements for our company vehicles. We moved to UKG Pro less than two years later, as we needed one unified system for Payroll, …
UKG Pro is much more user friendly than both previous HRIS and payroll systems I've used in the past. The others are less streamlined and include multiple more steps to complete a task than UKG Pro does.
I have previously used PeopleSoft and that was an extremely difficult system to navigate. It was not user-friendly when corrections need to be made. ULG pro is user-friendly, the navigation tabes are easy to understand and it makes using the system easy to make inputs.
When it comes to service and support, there is no comparison between UKG, Ceridian, ADP, Workday or other HCM vendors out there. The support that we have received over the previous three years has been the best I've ever experienced in my 15+ years of working in human resources …
I did not select UKG ProUKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro). I was hired during the implementation process. I process payroll. I do not make those types of business decisions. I preferred ADP's Smart Compliance compared to UKG's tax filing service. ADP is the …
I was not with with my current employer when UltiPro was implemented. This product was chosen because of the different HR tools it offered aside from just payroll. However, some of the modules that we expected to work better for us have lack of functionality needed for our …
We felt that the service was going to be a huge improvement from what we were dealing with prior. The capability of the system and the things that we can customize and track was definitely more than what we saw with the other systems we were looking at and currently used. The …
After a long selection process, we went with UKG - which had the highest launch price tag of all the vendors we reviewed - because of its amazing capacity for configurability. We were also drawn to the culture within UKG. It made the most sense to us that a company with a …
UP was by far a better choice. It was easy to use, looks clean, customization and had the functionality that we really needed and things that are so nice to have. We loved the report and how much it would do, the ease of payroll, and the many other areas that we have …
We actually partnered with Paylocity for a couple of years because we thought they were comparable to UltiPro, however they are not! We struggled with their customer service and also the knowledge of their staff. (We would call with the same question and receive differing …
UltiPro is the best product on the market. Other vendors only have a fraction of the functionality. Other vendors do not have anywhere near the support team that UltiPro has.

Chose UKG Pro
I think there are pros and cons with every system. UltiPro is better than some of the systems I have used in some areas, but there are still areas that other systems have outperformed UltiPro. I think it is important to be VERY clear with what the desired outcome is when …
I've been a Paylocity user for the last 6 years therefore I am proficient at Paylocity. Paylocity has helped me recently get 3 policies per person (261 * 3) signed off on by using the workflows dashboard. I think they can improve how the workflows are set up on their homepage when they log into the app. So whereas its helped get the employees to sign on their own time, it also would make it easier if it was easier to find on the mobile app.
UKG did well when we had issues with employees working for both agencies. We called the Rapid Response Team, and they fixed those issues on their back end. Another example is with the Amended W-2 form; they gave us instructions to do it ourselves, but it was not working, and need to make phone calls to get help.
UKG has an amazing support team to reach out to if assistance is needed
All add-ons of UKG Pro integrate seamlessly making it a powerful software program
UKG Pro is very configurable to meet the specific needs of companies
It is easy to use and navigate
The mobile app is loved by all employees and provides on-demand access
The Ultimate Community is amazing!! On-demand information on all products and how they are used. Connect with other companies that use UKG Pro and learn from each other.
The Learning Centre is also amazing!! Learning right at your fingertips anytime, anywhere.
A candidate being able to save progress on their application is really a must as they can't leave and come back to their application without having to restart, i.e. if they need to get a phone number for a reference for example.
Could use more room in entering the job for internal notes.
Quirky when doing cut and paste of job details that leaves spaces that aren't in the document being pasted.
As UKG is aware, the support for customers needs some improvement. As the recent changes to the staffing/support hierarchy take effect, I hope to see some relief to the current frustrations.
As the UKG Pro products evolve, they need to become more integrated and less segmented. Having to purchase multiple products that then need to coordinate for processing leads to issues.
As users, we have a lot of options for self-service and customization, but some simple fixes still require assistance from UKG support. Give us the power to help ourselves whenever possible.
We have had many issues with the way our platform was set up at implementation that still continue to plague us. In addition, our benefits, in particular our FSA, have been mis-managed causing a balance due from an employee (and also a lot of work for our accounting and HR team, as well as stress for the employee). Our service rep continues to answer incorrectly on many fronts (original response is usually check out this paylocity article, vs. helping) and recently our COBRA management was mishandled (not adding Dental to a person on Cobra who had requested it). So- all in all...we are not particularly happy w/ Paylocity
We are overall happy with UltiPro and it works well for our organization and we have plans to expand our usage of it even more so we will definitely be continuing with the product. We are thinking of adding the functionality for training and recruiting as well, which is an add-on product
Overall, in my experience, Paylocity has been easy to use for both staff and administrators. First, the staff has an application and inputting Paid Time Off is easy to do. I then get an alert on my app and I am able to approve it on the spot from my app that gives me access as an employee and an administrator without having to use multiple apps or logins. As an administrator I think the portal is easy to use, Paylocity did a great job showing me tools and rolling out training classes before rollout.
Mobile App: Really easy to use and its nice to have an HR software that actually has an mobile application to be able to enter time and to take care of everything with. Web App: The system is relatively easy to use with maybe a little training at the beginning if you have used another system. But the site is really easy to use and a lot better having everything under one roof
Paylocity support is always available and I never have to wait endlessly on hold. If our dedicated account manage is not available, there is an entire team assigned to our account. Every one of them is knowledgeable about our organization and Paylocity's process.
I've found Ultipro to be completely reliable. Outages are typically planned to occur on weekends and only once did I have connections issues connecting Citrix to the server where our environment was housed, but within the hour connection was restored. I think that's a pretty good track record, considering I've used the suite daily for over three years. Especially when processing payroll--say the internet goes down in the middle of you performing a task... Ultipro is able to recognize that a connection error occurred and quickly restores the process that was running, avoiding lost productivity.
Normally UKG Pro loads quickly. We had been having major issues with reports running in a timely manner but recently they broke out our virtual server to another instance where is wasn't sharing resources and that seems to have helped reporting run more efficiently.
Everyone wants immediate assistance. Awaiting a response from an email only to ask 2-3 more questions is time consuming. Within the first six months of setup, I would rather respond back to the instructors who provided me the training in each category of my contract.
The quality of UKG Support is related directly to the UKG rep. who handles the issue. In some cases you get someone who really is good at supporting the product and others may not have as much experience and it shows
I didn't have in-person training, but I'm sure it was just as great as any other training/assistance Paylocity provides. Paylocity customer service is always available. You never have to be on hold and their answers are always accurate and timely. Documents in the help section are helpful as well.
I've been to a few in-person (hands on) training sessions and it is very similar to the online classes. You have the same reference material to look back on after the training. So regardless of in person training or online you really get the same thing.
The training was live online, but was with a group of other companies. We did not receive any personalized training with our team. Whenever we would ask for training, we would be sent a peak article link or a video. It felt like the reps we dealt with didn't know the answer to the questions.
Most of the online training was very generic (to be expected) but we had specific requirements for configuration that could have been better addressed with more individual sessions earlier on from our project team. However, we did finally begin booking training sessions with our implementation team which were recorded, and so provided additional information for how to correctly configure and test the system.
I had gone through an implementation process of another HR platform (Paycom) in my previous job and was traumatized, it was painful. I was surprised how easy and fast it was with Paylocity, the team was very helpful and set us up for success
Make sure you have all of your tax account information with all the states you are registered in available and that you are knowledgeable about the filing status, frequency, etc. We had some unique challenges with our state unemployment tax set up that I was not aware of and needed to be addressed prior to going live. Working with the state unemployment office can be a challenge.
We honestly had a program that only kept track of our Demographics, salaries, etc. then all of our Payroll was done on paper with paper leave slips etc. When I saw Paylocity, I was very excited about how easy it is/would be to use. [...] Our Paylocity rep that I spoke to was super GREAT in the explanation of Paylocity and I didn't even shop around much.
UKG Pro won hands-down. The flexibility, the family feel of the partnership, the customer support model, the reporting, the scalability, and the custom-programming needs of company-specific items were all much better than the competitors. The cost comparison also came in either close to or less than the others so the cost/benefit FAR outweighed the competitors.
We started with approximately 100 employees and have grown to over 500. Paylocity is able to handle an organization's growth in terms of headcount as well as level of benefits offered.
