Daily online monitoring of rotating machinery vibration based on need and on email notification of alarms. Prior to having this online system lots of travel and labor involved with setting up portable analyzers to acquire transient data and many times the event that caused the problem would be missed or gone never to repeat or missed a failure event due to no online monitoring. With Bently Nevada System 1 Asset Health Management Software we capture transient data and can review startup/shutdown data to better diagnose an event or failure to focus our maintenance activities on. System 1 is available across our fleet within our network to view data remotely and accessible via VPN enabling viewing anywhere in the world.

  • Due to the power of the software, there are many attributes that I'm not aware of, so a better guide for use would be helpful

The software is well suited for capturing transient events and allowing for playback to use its diagnostic features to work through solutions. Many times during a startup on a large steam turbine, vibration events will come in that restrict the unit from coming online, so Operators need to know what is causing the issue and how they can work through it to get the unit online and producing power with little delay. Having Bently Nevada System 1 Assent Health Management Software online continuous monitoring allows me to access the data and troubleshoot without delay involved as in the past when I would have to travel to the site and setup monitoring gear then attempt to startup again and hope to capture the event.

  • The savings involved with online diagnostics and monitoring in keeping the unit running safely without damaging anything while planning for a convenient time to bring it down for repairs and knowing what parts and labor will be required due to diagnosing the problem ahead of time.
  • The cost savings of reducing the need for labor to travel for diagnostics or periodic data collection using portable or handheld vibration analyzers
We considered Emerson AMS Machine Works and associated products for online rotating machinery monitoring, but the application was not as intuitive to use and would have required many hardware upgrades of field devices to measure vibration where most or our power plants already had existing Bently Nevada vibration monitors that could easily be linked to System 1.
