What is CorEMR?

CorEMR is an electronic medical records (EMR) software specifically designed for the corrections industry. According to the vendor, it offers cost-effective EMR solutions for jails, county facilities, prisons, and juvenile detention centers of various sizes. It is used by correctional healthcare professionals, medical staff, healthcare administrators, correctional officers, and medical professionals in correctional mental health facilities.

Key Features

Reporting: According to the vendor, CorEMR allows users to create and customize reports. Reports can be generated on a schedule and made available in the message feature. Examples of reports include new book-ins, patients missing an intake physical, patients' medical alerts, PPD reports, MedPass compliance, and more.

Patient Charts: Users can access patient charts using name and booking number. Chart summaries include current medical problems, medications, task summary, intake form summary, and recent medical history. Scanning and file upload capabilities enable a paperless system. CorEMR maintains a historical summary of actions recorded for each patient.

Sick Calls / Encounters: CorEMR follows the standard SOAPE and DAP format for examinations. Users have access to all parts of the SOAPE or DAP note, allowing for recording actions for later note off or completing planning actions. Scanned documents and electronic files can be directly stored into SOAPE notes.

MedPass / eMAR: The vendor states that users can configure MedPass times by day, generating a corresponding MedPass list. Users can mark received, refused, absent, or not given for each medication. CorEMR automatically highlights medication expiration dates and refill notifications. Detailed e-MAR reports can be generated and viewed at any time. Advanced e-MAR reports display current or previous medication(s) administered by all or specific users for a range of dates. Medication inventory can be automatically adjusted as medications are distributed.

HIPAA Compliance: According to the vendor, administrators can create and maintain individual user permissions, ensuring complete access control. "Locked" items allow users to view charts and notes without editing them.

Calendar: The task calendar can be filtered by task category, priority, and housing location. Sick Call Encounters can be initiated directly from the schedule view. Task status can be easily managed to maintain updated records of current and overdue tasks.

Integration: CorEMR can import patient demographic data from Offender management software. The vendor claims that it has interfaces for medication ordering with pharmacies and result interfaces with radiology and laboratory providers. Kiosk systems integration enables patients to submit sick call requests.

Pharmacy Module: The pharmacy module facilitates medication orders to pharmacies, MedPass assignments, and refill scheduling. According to the vendor, CorEMR can import the drug list and identify formulary medications. Med-sets can be ordered with just 2 clicks.

Forms: The vendor states that CorEMR allows for easy creation and modification of customized forms. Forms can be configured with triggers to create actions in other parts of the system. Autofill features can retrieve data from a patient's medical chart for transfer and release forms.
