What is PediNotes?

PediNotes is an electronic medical record (EMR) software specifically designed for neonatal and pediatric care. According to the vendor, it seamlessly integrates patient information from all NICU caregivers into a unified and user-friendly platform. PediNotes caters to hospitals and healthcare facilities of varying sizes, accommodating small clinics as well as large medical centers. This software is utilized by a range of professionals in the neonatal and pediatric care industry, including neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, residents/students, pediatric consultants, and nurses.

Key Features

Multi-Screen View: Users can create customized views of patient information across multiple windows, minimizing the need for excessive navigation. Each user has the flexibility to personalize their own window preferences for Multi-Screen View.

Visual Keys: The software incorporates easily identifiable icons that provide actionable patient information on various aspects, such as follow-up requirements, pre-admissions, lab availability, team assignment, nursing and respiratory therapy assignment, parent information, work progress, and patient checkout/sticky notes.

Real-Time Notifications and Alerts: The software offers immediate notifications to alert users about new data availability, changes in patient status, and missing inputs. This includes laboratory results, documentation requiring cosignature, order review for Nurse Practitioner/Resident, nursing staff notification of CPOE submission, and alerts to ensure data compliance and facilitate clinical decision support.

Data Sharing: PediNotes provides a unified platform for the care team to conveniently access critical patient data relevant to their respective roles within the hospital. This encompasses patient and patient family information, defined patient reports, staffing information, demographics, quality control data, and more.

Configuration Tools: Users have multiple levels of configuration options to tailor PediNotes to their specific practice. They can define their own reference sections for protocols, clinical guidelines, telephone directories, order sets, and teaching files. Additionally, users can create templates for admission, physical examinations, procedures, TPN/feedings, medical history, and more. The software also allows for custom filters, billing rules, formulary, and clinical decision support.

Billing Integration: PediNotes facilitates in-program patient billing with customizable billing rules. It also enables billing export to third-party billing software (HL7) and provides reports for viewing aggregate billing data. The software offers electronic notifications for missed billing to optimize revenue cycle management.

Pediatric Subspecialty Functions: PediNotes includes built-in support for various pediatric subspecialties. It provides customized reports for subspecialties, subspecialty consults, echocardiograms, retinal examinations, and more.

Vermont Oxford Network: According to the vendor, PediNotes allows for electronic export of Vermont Oxford patient information, streamlining data entry processes. It also facilitates electronic data extraction for VON databases, including Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) and expanded data. Users can define their own ICD-10 and PCS codes for diagnosis and procedure retrieval, as well as electronically submit to eNICQ and view eNICQ status within PediNotes.

PediAnalytics: The software offers real-time analytics with simplified data retrieval and export capabilities in CSV format. It provides data warehousing functionality with Microsoft Power BI dashboards and reports. PediNotes includes pre-packaged reports and custom reporting options for various hospital departments, empowering data-driven decision-making and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
