What is SIMulation Workbench?

SIMulation Workbench is a software solution designed to provide flexible and programmable signal conditioning, fault insertion, and data acquisition capabilities for various industries and applications. It is particularly suited for hardware-in-the-loop test stands, dynamic data processing and monitoring systems, and ECU and subsystem testing that require fault insertion. SIMulation Workbench is targeted at small to large companies in the automotive and aerospace industries, as well as data acquisition and analysis professionals, test engineers, and research and development professionals.

Key Features

Custom Image Generation Services: According to Concurrent, they offer a range of customized IG services including visual database creation, simulation model interfaces to the IG, avionics and instrumentation, physical control devices, custom hardware, and more.

ImaGen Powered by GenesisIG: ImaGen servers feature GenesisIG visualization software from Diamond Visionics, which Concurrent claims provides high-fidelity real-time CIGI-compliant visualization. GenesisIG allows users to create image generation, synthetic visualization, Semi-Automated Forces (SAF), and mission planning applications with complex, dynamic 3D scenes.

Real-Time Clock & Interrupt Module: The Real-Time Clock & Interrupt Module (RCIM) is a multifunction PCIe card designed for time-critical applications that require rapid response to external events. It includes a synchronized clock readable by multiple GPU Workbench systems, programmable timers, and input/output external interrupt lines, as per Concurrent.

RedHawk Linux Performance and Determinism: At the heart of each GPU Workbench solution is Concurrent’s RedHawk Linux real-time operating system. According to the vendor, RedHawk provides high I/O throughput, fast response to external events, optimized interprocess communication, and NUMA memory management. It guarantees the performance of real-time processes when CUDA processes are concurrently running on a system.

NightStar Debugging and Analysis Tools: GPU Workbench supports Concurrent’s NightStar development toolkit, which allows users to debug, analyze, monitor, schedule, and tune their real-time applications on GPU Workbench systems or remotely. NightStar includes the NightTrace tool for tracing CUDA API function calls and examining detailed timing analysis of CUDA kernel executions, as per Concurrent.

Fault Insertion Signal Conditioning For Automotive and Aerospace Testing: For automotive, aerospace, and other test applications requiring fault insertion, Concurrent offers a standalone rackmountable fault insertion signal conditioning chassis. Each chassis contains multiple slots that can hold fault insertion and signal conditioning cards. Concurrent also provides a wide range of FIS cards designed for various automotive and aerospace custom test systems.

Programmable Signal Conditioning for Data Acquisition: SIGnal Workbench offers individually programmable signal conditioning modules that provide configurable transducer interface circuitry, programmable current voltage output sources, and fault-protected programmable gain amplifiers. It also includes thermocouple signal conditioning cards with individually-monitored cold junction temperatures, according to Concurrent.

Real-Time Data Acquisition Platforms: SIGnal Workbench systems are available with Concurrent iHawk multiprocessing platforms running the RedHawk Linux real-time operating system. These platforms are custom-configured to meet the needs of specific test applications and feature high-performance analog input boards supporting a high sampling rate per channel, as per the vendor.

Data Analysis and Monitoring Software: SIGnal Workbench solutions are available with APEX Turbine DS software, a real-time, dynamic data acquisition and monitoring environment. APEX-DS allows users to acquire, store, and process dynamic data signals, and offers real-time monitoring features for frequency domain and time domain engineering plots, according to Concurrent.
