What is SLM?
Safety Lifecycle Management (SLM) v2 is a software platform designed to facilitate risk management and safety lifecycle activities in various industries, according to the vendor. It is aimed at companies of all sizes, from small enterprises to large corporations. SLM offers a range of features to assist professionals in safety management, risk management, process engineering, and plant management across industries such as chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, manufacturing, and power generation.
Key Features
Risk Management Solutions: According to the vendor, SLM allows users to quickly identify potential risks and manage them at different levels, including enterprise, plant, and unit. It offers the ability to compare risk profiles across the organization, track mitigation schedules, and document personnel competencies.
HAZOP: SLM enables the facilitation of HAZOP studies directly within the platform or the import of data from other sources. Users can configure HAZOP facilitation tables, conduct project HAZOPs, and view risk assessment results at various levels of scope. The software also allows for the linking of process equipment to HAZOP scenarios, plotting hazardous scenarios on the Dynamic Risk Matrix, and generating reports.
LOPA: With SLM, users can facilitate LOPA studies directly within the platform or import data from external sources. The software allows for the configuration of LOPA data library tables, linking LOPA scenarios with recorded HAZOP module scenarios, and automatic calculation of barrier target requirements. Users can view barrier diagrams, schedule and track scenario and barrier gap closure, and generate reports.
BowTie Barrier Assurance: According to the vendor, SLM can automatically create Bow Ties using existing LOPA data and integrate Bow Tie analysis with other modules. Users can export Bow Ties in PDF or Excel format, perform Barrier Assurance checklists and workflows, visualize preventive and mitigating barriers, and determine the total risk of hazardous events within the plant.
Functional Safety Assessments (FSA): SLM offers standardized Stage 1 through Stage 5 FSAs, site assessments, and SIS audits, according to the vendor. Users can standardize or modify FSA checklists, track completion using checklists, and compare self-assessments with external assessments. The software also allows for the tracking of Action Items identified during FSA execution and the automatic generation of FSA Final Reports.
Action Item Tracker: The vendor states that SLM includes an Action Item Tracker to log and access assigned action item information from all modules. Users can filter and configure dashboard and KPI reporting, providing a single source of knowledge for action item status. The software supports custom fields and a configurable Action Item list, integration with in-house solutions, and mobile access. It also allows for reporting and file attachments, as well as the creation of standalone action items with a built-in notification system for assignment and tracking.
