Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

I've previously used Magento as an e-commerce platform because the open-source aspect was appealing to me at the time. It ultimately led to much more work and upkeep. Having a built-in CDN is great and there are a lot of capabilities with the apps that are available as add-ons. It took very little time to come up to speed in regards to the functionality. The user interface is very user-friendly. Being able to control each user's permissions is great too. I've never had any issues with the website or checkout loading slowly and a lot of our customers comment on how easy the website is to navigate and use. Linking orders to accounts is a huge plus. We don't like to require users to have an account but when they do decide later on to create an account, a few clicks can link their past orders to their new account. I look forward to continuing to use BigCommerce in the future and I am very confident that it will continue to be a solution that fits our needs.
  • Customer support
  • Plans for all size businesses.
  • Content delivery.
  • Checkout.
  • Available apps.
  • Lower cost.
  • More modern email templates.
  • Endless scrolling.
  • We still require 3rd party integrations such as Ship Station and Klaviyo.
  • We also need a 3rd party product/inventory solution to update our inventory from our distributor's feeds.
  • The payment and shipping options out of the box are great.
I feel that if we had 10 customers or 10,000,000 customers, BigCommerce could handle and provide solutions for our business. I'm not worried about scalability and feel that we have plenty of room to grow and flourish.
We actually use a 3rd party service to manage our APIs from our distributors. Things such as inventory and pricing are regularly updated through the APIs. This was started before I began at this company so I am not sure what the limitations were that led to the decision to go to a 3rd party solution.
Open source Magento was a full-time job. Now, I have a lot more freedom giving me the ability to take on more responsibilities and get my job done more efficiently. There were many headaches associated with Magento and depreciating version 1 and forcing users to migrate to version 2 was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Do you think BigCommerce delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with BigCommerce's feature set?

Yes

Did BigCommerce live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of BigCommerce go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy BigCommerce again?

Yes

BigCommerce would be ideal for someone starting with a brand new business. I'm not sure how the migration process is from one platform to another, but it seems like their support team and the plethora of documentation would be more than enough to make the transition. There are many different roles available for employees which you can customize too which is a plus.
