Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT
We use Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT for all of our cash management, payables management and financial reporting. We rely heavily on it for tracking expenses and cash flow. Recently, we have pushed out dashboards to department managers to allow them more information when making buying decisions. As we try to evolve our procedures to better encompass the technology available, instead of paper-based systems, we find that we are able to utilize more features of Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT.
- Invoice Entry
- Allowing Attachments (cutting down on paper filing)
- Journal Entries (including recurring journal entries)
- Purchase Orders could use work, although they are currently working on it. Hopefully it will have some improvement over the cumbersome database experience.
- Setting up balancing is cumbersome (you have to list every account that could be involved in an interfund transaction)
- By taking feedback from customers they have made some things more efficient. For example, journal entry-to copy a journal entry that repeats; used to take 3 clicks and a pop out screen, now takes only 2 clicks. Doesn't sound like a lot but it was something that was an efficiency point. The fact that they are listening is what drives their change.
- Dashboards have been crucial in allowing department managers to be able to handle their own budgets and see where expenses are impacting their bottom line. You can dig all the way down to see an invoice attachment to understand the expenses.
With the reporting capabilities, as well as audit and internal controls we have had consistent audits with very few to no findings. This gives donors the peace of mind that we are displaying integrity in the handling of their donations to the organization.
We have recently begun to use the dashboards. Initially, there were some concerns with security, but once those were addressed, we have started a roll out to Execs, then department heads. It has allowed for more transparency, which has been appreciated.
