Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It gives us visibility into endpoints, the activity, and the state of the endpoints. So when we do investigations, we get alerts, right? And so when we do investigations, we usually go to the defender tool set.

Pros and Cons

Endpoint information is really good. The lateral movement information that they provide is good. Something on there. Visibility into endpoints related to users to identity. It's also really good. I think it's probably my top three.

So our biggest frustration is no visibility into browser history, browser plugins, kind of the state of the browser. That's the missing piece from kind of start to finish when you're trying to do investigation. That's usually the first thing, right? Somebody clicks on a link and we don't have the visibility to see when they clicked on the link and what link it was without all extra work elsewhere.

Return on Investment

It's positive in that it gives us real time information. When we do pen tests and things, we get real time alerts and we get to see what is happening. So it's been a great tool.

Environment Setup

No, we're all a hundred percent in the cloud. We don't have anything On-Prem anymore.

Threat Reduction

I guess, yeah. Again, it's all about visibility, right? So we can see what's patched, we can see the vulnerability state, we can see those kinds of things and get them fixed. So that's always a good thing.

Infrastructure Savings

Yeah, absolutely. The amount we've saved in terms of dollars. Yeah, I don't know. In terms of hours, it's hundreds of hours a year.

Alternatives Considered

We used to use Symantec and McAfee. It's been mostly defenders since, gosh, the last eight to 10 years. So we're a small organization. We don't have a lot of folks, so single-painted glass is really important to be able to see the whole environment in a single place. And the Microsoft tooling gives us that.
