Overall Satisfaction with Sigma Computing
We use Sigma as our analysis and visualization platform on top of Snowflake. It enables non-technical users to use a familiar Excel-like interface to be able to access our data stored in Snowflake without needing to be experts in using SQL. It also enables users to easily create charts/graphs as well as filter the data that they need.
- Enables ease of access to the underlying data stored in Snowflake.
- Customer service is very accessible and extremely helpful in answering questions about using the platform.
- User interface is very intuitive for users familiar with an Excel-like interface.
- The creation of Dashboards/Workbooks is very intuitive and makes creating visualizations easy.
- Can be difficult at times to locate items if you have created a lot of workbooks.
- Missing some features such as Excel PivotCharts.
- There are limitations on the number of elements that can be displayed in a PivotTable.
- Provided us with self-service capabilities which we have not previously had access to.
- Provides us with a flexible platform that allows us to answer questions which we would not previously have been able to answer.
- Has enabled new business/reporting capabilities that previously would have required engineering/development resources to create.

Sigma has provided us with the ability to answer a variety of data questions that previously were unanswerable since the data was locked into a custom application. Providing the ability to get at the raw data and then slice the data to answer questions has allowed us to create processes that, in the past, would have required custom application development.
In one use case we were able to create a monitoring pipeline to gauge if/when there were issues with data loads by being able to schedule a daily export to a slack channel showing a 5-day data trend.
Sigma also has built-in dashboards for products such as Snowflake which allow you to analyze platform usage and identify trends which include which warehouses/databases are consuming the most CPU time and/or storage.

Sigma provides a very user-friendly experience without a lot of complicated setups and/or overhead associated with getting access to the underlying data. Excel, Tableau, and Splunk all provide similar functionality. Sigma, however, packages the features and functionality of these tools but in a low friction manner that enables you to quickly get up and running with access to the underlying data. This allows you to quickly get access to your data questions and start deriving value very quickly and easily.
