TIBCO Cloud Spotfire

Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Spotfire

There were select programs and applications that were required to be used for an economic analysis of a large scale oil and gas development program. Spotfire, while not required, offered a significant advantage in GIS analytics.
  • GIS analytics
  • Quick multivariate analysis
  • Data presentation for management
  • Visualization
  • Data manipulation
  • User customization
  • Large Learning curve
  • Positive: I was able to present significantly more data in a minimalist and streamlined way.
  • Self-taught
It was probably more inefficient than formal training would have been, however the basic functions of spotfire are easy to pick up on.
Spotfire is a more streamlined version of Power BI. I would prefer Spotfire over this competitor.
GIS applications, quick multivariate analysis.

TIBCO Cloud Capabilities

The Spotfire cloud is beneficial for business users who need a lightweight solution to access various reports. It also helps to keep loading times relatively quick, even for those with slower connection speeds. There are some occasional performance issues with vague errors. The only reason I was able to find out the root cause was from searching through the Spotfire forum.
I did not participate in the initial deployment of any Spotfire Cloud based solutions.

Spotfire has continued to investment significantly into their cloud capabilities. I have found these solutions to diversify Spotfire's usage away from just the traditional analytics front and allow improved enterprise reporting for non-technical personnel. The lightweight client makes it easy to share reports & dashboards to management or other departments through a simple link or the included library.
  • Easier access for non-technical personel
  • Improved enterprise reporting
  • Consolidated repository
I have not had an opportunity to interact with Spotfire support. The only forums do have a plethora of information and there is extensive documentation available, however I find a number of the errors I encounter require solutions that may not be easily available on either source due to version differences or user error.
I have not provided any recent feedback to Spotfire.
  • Heavy analytics
  • Enterprise reporting
  • Replacement of other business intelligence products
