Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
Veeam has proven to be a fairly intuitive backup software that is much easier to use than some competing products. The software is user-friendly and is incredibly helpful in file recovery situations that require fast resolution. Our company replaced an outdated software with Veeam and are pleased with the results that we have seen even in just a few months we have been using their service.

Veeam is currently backing up multiple virtual servers for our company. We anticipated that the software would be backing up all of these virtual environments much the same as the previous backup software had been doing. Veeam is lining right up with our level of expectation for use in backing up our company data files. It has met the mark for our expectations in this regard.
- Higher cost than previous backup software.
- More reliable than previous backup software.
The IT department for our company and the managed service provider that we contract, both had been working towards a new backup system to replace the outdated and troublesome backup system that had been in place for years and was slowly degrading. The push to move to Veeam was a decision based on the prevalence of ransomware attacks and our need for a newer, more versatile backup system.
We have not yet set up our cloud storage service as we are still in the process of transitioning our backups from our old system over to Veeam. The cloud storage and protection, however, are some of the main reasons that we decided to go with Veeam backup, to begin with.
We have not yet set up NAS/File-share backups with Veeam just yet. As previously stated, we are still in the process of transitioning our backup systems over to Veeam at this time. I feel confident that we will utilize this feature to ensure critical data is preserved on individual files.
Using Veeam Backup & Replication
1 - The entire company server structure will be backed up using Veeam, but there will only be a single, primary user. The IT Department will be in charge of managing the data backup procedures and software and will run file recovery and restores as needed. Other employees will need to contact IT with a request.
1 - There is one member of the in-house IT Department for our company, who will be in charge of maintaining the backup software and ensuring the integrity/success of the backups. Our in-house IT Specialist will remain the company point of contact and support for our backups for all company users.

Evaluating Veeam Backup & Replication and Competitors
Yes - We replaced our Quest Core Rapid Recovery backup software with Veeam. We decided to replace this software due to consistent issues with backups and poor customer support. We were also looking for backup software that would allow us the option to use cloud storage as a means of further protecting our data from ransomware.
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Product Reputation
The single most important factor in our decision to purchase Veeam Backup & Replication was that it would allow us to store our backups through cloud services and would help to protect our data from ransomware attacks. As these ransomware attacks have become more common, our company became more concerned with the possibility of our data being compromised.
I do not believe that we would have changed our evaluation and selection process, but I do believe that we would have made the decision to move to Veeam sooner if we had to do it again.
Veeam Backup & Replication Implementation
- Third-party professional services
CNP Technologies
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled - Change management was limited in this implementation as only a handful of users in our company use the backup system.
- Backup failure issues
Veeam Backup & Replication Training
- no training
Yes, the processes were very easy to learn with the help of the short, specific tutorial videos available on Veeam's website. They are a great resource and are incredibly helpful as opposed to clunky manuals that require scrolling through hundreds of pages to find the information you need.

We did opt for support through the initial purchase. We chose to add the support because it is imperative to have our backups fully functional at all times and to ensure that we can recover data with the help of professionals if we are in an emergency situation. The peace of mind alone is worth the additional cost.
Yes - Not so much a bug as an issue with how the software was running up against the old system that we already had in place. The issue was resolved with the assistance of Veeam support, who checked in regularly about the progress and success of our backup jobs. It took some investigation to determine the issue, but it was eventually resolved by a third-party MSP technician.
Veeam support was responsive to our request to determine the cause of backup failures. They worked directly with our IT resources on identifying the issue and what could be causing it. They were diligent in assessing the log information that we shared with them and made sure to check in regularly throughout the whole process.
