Ataccama ONE vs. data.world

After evaluating many of the leading data governance/management tools in the industry, Ataccama ONE quickly became a front-runner for our firm's needs and requirements. I particularly like how Ataccama focuses on investing a portion of its revenue on user-suggested enhancements - they truly want to grow with their clients, which is what we were looking for.

• For quickly discovering, preparing, and sharing relevant data from a wide range of
  sources.
• Easily managing numerous file formats.
• For contributing and discussing data in one place to aid fast, efficient collaboration.
• For joining datasets from many sources.
• Integrating datasets with other platforms.

Less appropriate

• For full data management.
• For those unfamiliar with database concepts and SQL.
• Very limited chart builder

• It is one of the leading data quality tools in the industry, in our opinion.
• Offers free data profiling.
• Integrates with other tools for complete end-to-end lineage.

• Ingest data from almost any source
• Join disparate datasets
• Integrate with other platforms
• Create subsets of data and share across teams

• Does not support as wide of a tech stack range as I would like.
• It would be nice if it came with a user hotkey function out of the box.
• Having concurrent user usage licenses would be ideal.

• Requires knowledge of SQL - visual SQL builder would help with accessibility

One of the key factors in our choice to onboard Ataccama was its usability - general end users have everything at their fingertips, it is not difficult for IT developers to setup the tool, and it has been an overall pleasure.

It's a very user-friendly platform for those familiar with database concepts and SQL. Documentation is extensive but for those with no prior knowledge it can be daunting. The lack of ability to organize queries and datasets by category can also be frustrating and sometimes difficult to navigate.
