Ataccama ONE vs. NetApp MetroCluster

Usage for enterprise wide data management and governance across wide range of user group. Ataccama ONE enables achieving higher data quality amongst the data products. It is a powerful platform that supports integration of several checks on different data sets that can be also consolidated in reports later on. Data discovery works quite fast and easy.

NetApp MetroCluster is suited for applications which require 100% uptime with no data loss. It is suitable for organizations who have the need to move their NAS services and workloads to another data center with minimal downtime and configuration. Due to the cost of the product, it is not well suited for NAS file shares that require greater than zero RPO and RTO's. NetApp asynchronous is better suited for this type of data.

• It is one of the leading data quality tools in the industry, in our opinion.
• Offers free data profiling.
• Integrates with other tools for complete end-to-end lineage.

• Data deduplication, compression, and compaction provide great savings compared to traditional host based storage
• Multiprotocol support (NAS and SAN) provide great flexibility
• Ability to easily run your workloads from either data center with minimal effort and no disruption was the key selling point

• I would like to see more highly intelligent monitoring that can help determine where latency is coming from. Eg. Host, Array, Network or Fabric issues

One of the key factors in our choice to onboard Ataccama was its usability - general end users have everything at their fingertips, it is not difficult for IT developers to setup the tool, and it has been an overall pleasure.

Support has been excellent to date - very user friendly and knowledgeable to help support our needs and issues as they arise.

Ataccama ONE is a designated tool for Data quality monitoring. Supports end to end. Quite easy to deploy. Alteryx is more about coding or almost as complicated while Ataccama ONE is a bit easier to use. Different interfaces. Many views automatically available for data sets in Ataccama ONE. Output is vizualized in the tool. While more data transformation is required in Alteryx.

• By moving critical application data away from older based technology such as host based mirroring and to a centralized array based replication, the complexity of managing data from multiple source and destination servers has been removed.
• The number of incidents compared to our previous legacy configuration is huge. Data uptime has been 100% available since the migration to NetApp MetroCluster.
