It’s almost perfect for our needs. In particular, the ability to manage long and complex book structures and control styles and layout via media objects is a huge advantage. The new output options (New Word, ProCSS, AION) represent real improvements. Support in Europe has also improved significantly.

Customization and creation of CMS are almost limitless. Building and customizing the platform is facilitated by a wealth of documentation and video content. As opposed to graphql and traversing rest APIs, Sanity's query language is a breath of fresh air. It really helps you if you want something lightweight but at the same time you want it to be scalable then I think Sanity is your best option.

Usability
Author-it
This platform is not intuitive and is not easy to use. The learning curve is steep for this platform. Also, there are lots of work arounds needed in order for basic items to be processed. We have had to pay for additional IT support and training just to be able to use our platform and has been in service for over 10 years

Alternatives Considered
Author-it
In the beginning, we used a Word-based HAT. We switched to Author-it already in 2004. For us, the database-driven approach and the easier management of styles were the game-changers. Compared to XML-based tools, the user-friendliness is a major advantage.
