AWS Snow Family vs. Azure VMware Solution vs. Scality ARTESCA

I can say it is appropriate in many ways, like the data transfer and the migration part. The generations in the AWS snow family are also helpful in choosing the right one based on the amount of data and budget aspects. Moreover, it was well suited for use in migrating bulk amounts of data. The surveillance part is a bit drawback for us, and now its ok, and we are good with it.

Cloud-Native Applications: If you are building cloud-native applications that are designed to run on Azure, AVS may not be the best solution. In this case, you should consider using Azure-native services, such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Functions.Minimal Workloads: If you have a small number of workloads, it may not be cost-effective to use AVS. In this case, you can consider using Azure Virtual Machines (VMs) or other Azure services that are better suited for small workloads.Custom Hardware Configurations: If you require custom hardware configurations or specialized hardware, AVS may not be able to meet your requirements. In this case, you can consider using other Azure services, such as Azure Dedicated Hosts, that offer more flexibility in terms of hardware configurations.Cost-Sensitive Workloads: If you have cost-sensitive workloads, AVS may not be the best solution. While AVS offers many benefits, it can also be more expensive than other Azure services. In this case, you should consider using Azure services that are more cost-effective, such as Azure Virtual Machines.

The team in charge of implementing Scality has to be full stack in order to guarantee the correct functioning of the entire system. However, you have to think very carefully about the balance between servers and disks, perhaps adopting smaller fully populated servers instead of large semi-populated servers, which would mean that over time our disk updates will not have a fully useful life.

• The overall packaging is not very good. I think it could be more efficient for installation.
• There are many components in storage servers. This can generally be complex to understand, you have to be patient.

It feels good for our techs who already used VMware on prem. However, there was significant difficulty adjusting to a new networking model.

As an organization, it took us a while to understand the shift from a traditional black box SAN to software-defined storage, but now we are much more certain of what this means. The time invested and the resources were not very high, thanks on the one hand to the technical support and on the other to the coherence and good development of the platform.

Actually, we have used both the AWS Database Migration Service and AWS snow family's snowmobile, and we have a lot of experience with both migration parts. But the one we choose the best is the AWS snow family. Among these, it really works like something to migrate all the existing data to AWS servers in a very short span. Moreover, the accuracy of the data transfer is 100%.

Due to the nature of our business we require extensive encryption and availability for sensitive customer data. The erasure encoding that Scality provides gives us the assurance that documents are rest are never in a state of being downloaded or available to a casual data thief. This is something that can be found with other vendors but at a fraction of the same cost. Having this kind of performance, availability and redundancy at the cost that Scality provides has made a large difference to our organization.

• Cost Savings: One of the key benefits of AVS is that it can help businesses save money by reducing the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading on-premises infrastructure.
• AVS can help businesses improve their agility by enabling them to quickly provision and scale VMware workloads in Azure.

• Keeping sensitive customer data secure is a must for our organization and Scality has great features to make this happen.
• We replaced a single SAN with a Scality ring and found performance to improve as we store more and more customer data.
• Being able to lose various portions of our Scality ring and allow it to continue to service customers while maintaining high performance has been key to our business.
