Likelihood to Recommend Desktop Operating System upgrades and migrations to ensure installed applications are compatible with the new environment. If an environment does not have a lot of locally installed applications and heavily dependent on web applications, cloud applications, and Microsoft App-V, then AppDNA is not going to be beneficial in that organization.

Best suited for applications where installing from scratch is not an option or a very difficult one. Migrating applications that you are familiar with, you have support for or have done in the past, via AppZero, in my experience, may become more time/resource consuming. In my environment it makes little sense for example to migrate an Office Suite via AppZero. Good at collapsing tiers (e.g. old application whose demand has waned and it no longer needs to serve large number of users). The score is awarded is a bit misleading, AppZero is invaluable when you have no other choice but for mainstream applications its value drops.

When documentation regarding the implementation of an application is missing (e.g. old versions and support is prohibitive to obtain, or in case of homegrown applications) it becomes the tool available to perform the migration. There is always a back-out option, and different approaches/attempts can be made. Will provide you insight on what otherwise would be a "blackbox" application. Allows you to consolidated multi-tiered applications into fewer/single tiers. Read full review Cons Citrix AppDNA should get more frequent updates on application compatibility list and provide even more detailed suggestions for fixes and perhaps auto-fix feature for some applications. Compatiblity with legacy Operating Systems could be expanded to include more applications and OS to increase usability. A good essential tool that should be marketed more by Citrix to organizations for usage beyond Citrix environment. Most non-Citrix IT personnel and management are unaware of the benefits of AppDNA and it's ability to help with desktop Operating System migrations. Read full review VirtaMove (formerly AppZero)
I'd like to see a more streamlined migration of applications relying on SQL. I'd like to see better documentation, or perhaps labs/examples available. Read full review Alternatives Considered AppDNA is more robust and provide a nice report of application compatibility list to review and segment verified applications from problematic applications. It takes one step further from the Microsoft Windows Migration Tool by providing solutions to fix the problematic applications.

I have not use any other application for this purpose. I've selected AppZero based on peer recommendation and found it to fulfill the functionality I was looking for.
Read full review Return on Investment AppDNA was relatively easy to deploy with a small team of 3-4 support IT personnel and took a week to deploy and another week for us to configure and use. Great tool to cut down on manual process of testing initial application compatibility before system upgrade. If you are a Citrix Platinum customer, there is no reason not to use this tool and a great way to consider upgrading to Platinum if you are an Advance or Enterprise customer. For a single large organization (over 3000 desktops), if you are planning a desktop Operating System upgrade you need to take a look at AppDNA. Read full review VirtaMove (formerly AppZero)
It has certainly proved to be a worthwhile investment. There were cases where to migrate an application several versions behind with lapsed support would've been a many zeroes expense. Done via AppZero, it was a LOT cheaper. Read full review ScreenShots
