LevelBlue DbProtect vs. IBM Netezza Performance Server

Monitoring database activity internally was a huge concern for my company, which is why we implemented DbProtect. I would recommend this to anyone that has lower end traffic on their SQL servers. My company appeared to be too big for DbProtect and was not a good fit, but it would be useful for a smaller company.

as one with IBM Netezza Performance Server.

• Data can be exported from the IBM Netezza Performance Server to a variety of formats, including Excel.
• We can prioritize specific users and queries using IBM Netezza Performance Server.

• Speed of interface.
• The trace function utilized high resources at times and would sometimes crash servers.
• Support could have been better, but this is when the company was under Trustwave and even the owners before then.

• More tech support may make it easier as it is only limited to be done via company representatives
• Overhead cost for replacements and services looks like it is high compared to others
• Integration with other cloud based application will be great

The price is the complete opposite and Imperva provided things that DbProtect did not. I would suggest a cleaner interface and more reporting in DbProtect. These things may exist now, but did not when I was a customer of DbProtect. DbProtect when configured correctly will do what you want it to and help secure databases.

Netezza is sufficient against similar products. It comes down to personal preference, I'd love to have the data objects popping up as I type but some people may not like it.

• Increase employee efficiency by putting all the information in front of us via alerts.

• The appliance is all in one so we have all licenses and support contracts under one roof.
• The cost is expensive so ROI may take time to be realized.
• If done correctly, then Netezza provides the opportunity for huge ROI.
