MOM is not well suited as a CRM, though it can be used in that role. It is a good program to use for order management. It probably isn't well suited to be the only program you use, but certainly can help in an auxiliary role.

Frankly I'm not sure which other programs are direct competitors to MOM. I can't think of any and I haven't used any others. For our purposes, it works well
