Google Backup and Sync (discontinued) vs. Sync.com

Google [Backup and Sync] is great if you want a nice free solution to sharing files where multiple people need to be in them at the same time. Everyone needs a free google account and they can have access and share file easily. If you need something that integrates well with the windows file explorer or a mac computer though, this solution isn't the best one out there because it works best through the web interface.

Sync.com is well suited for all organizations who want to both store & share files in the cloud. Sync.com is only good when dealing with a single account at a time. This means all projects need to reside on a single Sync.com location since there's no app solution currently available to monitor more than one cloud storage location.

• file version is very good to recover if we did wrong thing in that file
• can restore file back if we empty from trash
• smart sync for offline file use in case no internet
• work cross platform mobile, Android, web, tablet, PC easy to share and manage permission

• A lot of people getting confused by how the app opens. If the app is open, it will give a little icon on Mac on the toolbar so they think it's not working.
• It can be a bit better UI.
• Search option can be stronger.

• Provide an option on the desktop app to monitor more than a single account.

Google support is usually pretty good, never had an issue that required direct communication or support from Google.

Since the [Google Backup and Sync] works with google/gmail accounts, and most people have a google account already it made it an easy solution to setup and link with most users. The other solutions would have required setting up new accounts for most employees to get them started, so it saved us that hassle.

Sync does an excellent job stacking up against the competitors. Like the others, Sync.com has an app that helps monitor files uploaded or downloaded into the cloud. Sync.com offers a free account that has a capacity of 6GB which is more than many of the other competitors. With security and version history, Sync.com is the software program to beat.

• Sync.com has major ROI in not having to invest in more storage space on premise.
• Files on Sync.com are all secure and are backed up so we don't need to spend the time doing backups.
• Sync.com does an excellent job of allowing us to share files with others by just entering their email address.
