Google Cloud Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) vs. OVH Dedicated Servers

An effective pricing strategy is in place. Google Cloud VPC is the most secure since it runs on a private network and never contacts the public network. Google is well-known for its AI/ML and Kubernetes engines, both of which have a leg up on the competition. Google Cloud VPC's database services are yet to be improved.

I think the only reason not to look at OVH Dedicated Servers is if you need something with higher resilience. It's important to remember that these are a single physical server and thus have the same risks of outage as if you deploy a single physical server anywhere else. Most VPS solutions (whether OVH or elsewhere) have all the failover and HA abstracted from you and so offer less administrative overhead. However in terms of the amount of compute, storage and RAM you can get for your dollar, you can't beat the value proposition of OVH, and coupled with that they will repair the hardware if it fails, your task is simply to ensure you've take appropriate backup steps, and understand your RTO and RPO and architect accordingly. If you can withstand a period of downtime, then a single dedicated server will go a long way!

• Sometimes the group settings tab lags a little
• Although overall it's easy to use, some of the sections lack documentation
• Routes section is very poorly implemented, requires a lot of digging to learn how to use

• Security options are pretty basic, we must use SOAR software alongside to secure the servers.

VPC is a difficult concept to grasp and recommendations for configuring it would be helpful in educating the users to make the right choice while using the product in configuring networking for their cloud deployments. Also, the user interface can be intuitively designed so as to suggest templates to perform common configurations with regard to VPC.

Everything has been thought of - from the initial password secure portal, through to day to day management, you can do everything from the console easily. Remote KVM is on hand for those awful moments (if you have them - and we all have) where the server won't boot for some reason

Google VPC and networking infrastructure is very matured and is built later after Amazon VPC. It made sure to address all the limitations faced by amazon VPC. Google Virtual private cloud is across regions while amazon VPC covers only one region but multiple zones. Google VPC is a global resource while AWS is a regional resource.

OVH Dedicated Servers are a different product so a direct comparison is difficult. In simple terms, both provide compute, memory and storage. However the EC2 instances offer significantly more in the way of resiliency in the event of a single hardware failure. However this comes at a price, and there is no way you could get 18TB of RAID5 style storage on HDD from a Public Cloud provider for the price of an OVH Dedicated Server

• Using Google Cloud VPC cloud storage has saved us on infra budget and per TB storage cost
• Using MySQL databases on Google Cloud VPC has improved the performance and cost of operation and maintenance
• Better pricing model has improvement on operational cost and increased revenue
