Hashboard (discontinued) vs. Kibana

Glean.io is exceptionally well for creating automation data visualisation dashboards. Exploring the data is again highly effective. Visualisations are easily customisable to best suit the requirements of the team. Collaborating and commenting around the dashboards is very smooth. If there are any changes in the system or any feature requests, the support team takes some time to respond

Kibana is indeed a powerful tool and has many use cases especially in environments that rely heavily on real-time log analysis and visualisation. Kibana’s ability to handle large volumes of log data and present it in an accessible, searchable format is invaluable. We use Kibana to monitor security related issues and it proactively alerts our Slack channels about any anomality or issues.

• Workflow is easy and clear due to clean and state of the art interface

• Querying has to be done by users only. There can be ways to automate querying using templates
• Not able to clearly check the query run time
• The customer support team can be little more proactive while communicating any changes and resolving any queries

• Some performance issues with large datasets.
• Linking to dashboards makes extremely long urls.

Its usability is generally good and it provides teams with a basic to intermediate understanding about data visualization. It is very user-friendly when it comes to creating dashboards. The UI is very good and simple. Its integration with other tools for alerting and reporting is amazing. But its advance features have a learning curve and a first timer needs some time to use the advance features.

We did not use the official Kibana support. Documentation was easy enough to follow.

For simple use cases, Glean.io is a lightweight alternative to SAP Analytics Cloud. Provisioning, testing, and documentation are easier and less intimidating in the Glean.io case. Thus, it is easy to explore without firing up the sales machinery of the big corporates. Thus, the process of looking into and testing it out was way more convenient. Further, the data ops features were new to use and seem to be unique with Glean.io.

• Issues that affect checkout experiences for customers are able to be prioritized and solved quickly.
• We are able to more efficiently use resources due to the automation of reporting alerts. Decreasing employee resources needed.
• Visualization allows us to quickly share issues and explain to coworkers in order to escalate issues that can cost our bottom line.
