Hudson CI (discontinued) vs. Tricentis qTest

Though it has a few setup issues, once you are done with setup it works like charm so one time setup issues won't bother. Reporting, version tracking, debugging everything is helpful and more clear and it reduces effort, in our scenario our QA team integrated their script with Hudson so that after every release it will get triggered automatically and developers will know if there is any major issue.

Tricentis qTest integrates seamlessly with Jira, making it ideal for teams that manage user stories and defects in Jira while keeping test cases and execution in qTest. When paired with automation tools like tosca, Selenium, or WebdriverIO, qTest is excellent for aggregating both manual and automated test results in one place.

• Oracle Hudson UI provides a simple setup and integration with SVN and other version control tools.
• The user control provides various operations to users through which it's easy to control the CI deployment process.
• It handles Performance testing and Automation testing, provides and accepts user interaction. Allows them to schedule jobs

• Tricentis qTest manages test cases very well and keeps step by step by details of each and every scenarios
• Tricentis qTest provides all the details related to functionality in a single place which saves time and efforts of QA
• QA doesnt require much knowledge for test case execution as every details are there in Tricentis qTest test cases which saves the time of knowledge transfer

• The setup needs to be more user friendly, currently for first time users CI doesn't provide more guidelines.
• JMeter tool can be integrated but it's not easy, user has to follow and do research before setup. A simpler way would help make the process more user friendly.
• Selenium tool like JMeter can be integrated, if its Webservice it's easy but for UI automation integration not enough information is provided.

• We can add some more integration features with JIRA so the users can directly mark the test as executed from JIRA itself when functional testing is done.
• Tricentis qTest can provide some features like sending reminders for retesting if there are failed test cases marked while testing to keep Tricentis qTest up to date.

It successfully balances deep enterprise functionality with a clean and modern interface. One of its strongest points is the intuitive, folder based navigation, which makes organizing test case and cycles feel natural. Learning curve is relatively shallow for the new team members to become productive without extensive onboarding. Also the deep integration with JIRA is a significant boost to its usability.

Oracle CI in terms of setup lags behind all above products, but then its use is also limited to release management so we can't really compare. Majority of organizations have dedicated team to help with CI Process so they take care of managing all jobs and setup.

• Overall project management and the time calculation for the quality checking of each project can be managed good in qTest
• It provides full tracability of a single project from the requirements to the defects raised it helps our team a lot
