It is only a necessity if teams are planning to migrate between clouds and need a transitional setup. A single cloud/all on-prem setup won't need the IBM Hybrid Cloud Mesh.

  • Yet to implement network latency management, to help avoid overcrowding of requests at a single point
  • It doesn't exactly 'integrate' with the separate cloud systems, which often leads to knowledge gaps
  • Proactive monitoring is something that requires further focus

You can also use a product already in the Azure environment, Microsoft Azure Arc. This also allows hybrid cloud management, with focus on security, compliance and connecting data services. This was less relevant for us being not users of Azure.
