Ignite UI vs. React Native

Angular is our framework of choice for a number of reasons. Business data is almost always displayed in a grid format. It makes sense to start with a strong widget that is powerful and fast when building applications. Ignite UI provides a complete toolset of widgets for other frameworks, but Angular is our focus. Ignite UI is helping us deliver a great UX/UI.

We are implementing React Native framework for the development of the Front-End for the machine learning models maintenance and monitoring website. It provides meaningful error messages, and time-saving and robust tools make it a premium choice over other platforms. Moreover, it provides intelligent debugging tools and error report mechanisms. And most importantly for us, it provides the aesthetic minimal functionality to learn in order to implement it, thereby eliminating the need to work in Xcode or Android Studio for iOS or Android apps respectively.

• The examples are great and close enough to real-life usage to be truly helpful
• The OOB configuration and themes are good. They are very configurable.
• The touch support and response web are built in, allowing the same code to work well on desktop and phone.

• I would like to see examples with security tokens. It really isn't an Ignite UI issue, but would be helpful.
• Some of the examples are over-simplified, not how the products would be used in real life.

• sometime we need external repos to develop an feature
• external application may break the performance of the application while integrating with the React Native.
• external database connectivity can be handle better while we are implementing server-client validations.

React Native uses JavaScript in the frontend and hooks and functions in the backend to connect the database to the real-time application. It also does not need any external support for multilevel configuration for different platforms. In terms of usability, it perfectly holds the front-end and backend development with some external configuration if we require it in our business. Sometimes it requires more configurations and pathways to build a certain level of functionality for the end users, but every technology has a tough phase where a certain concept get lack of visibilty to the users.

We tried DevExpress when we started a project a couple of years ago. At the time, the documentation and ease of use went to Infragistics. When trying new or updated tools, the documentation and samples are everything. Having minimal documentation or documentation that seems to be written for people that already know how to use the product is just plain frustrating. Samples need to be something close to the real-life usage of the product.

Compared with Angular and Vue, Reactive Native doesn't have a steep learning curve, considering it is a complete solution, and mastering Angular and Vue requires one to learn associated concepts like TypeScript and MVC. In React, the same code base may be implemented for creating a UI element and dictating its behavior, thereby eliminating the over-engineering procedures and following programming paradigms like KISS, DRY and SOLID.

• There is a learning curve, of course, but the comparisons between the projects with and without Ignite UI are worth it.
• The time savings on development is very real. The built-in functionality is amazing.
• We are able to focus on features rather than getting the look and feel of our deliverable.
