Oracle Data Service Integrator vs. Starburst Enterprise

Once Oracle Data Service Integrator is set up properly, it is quite simple to snatch data from a myriad of disparate sources and put them into a single repository. Due to cost factors, it is not for the faint of heart; however, if you can handle it, the benefits will quickly outpace the initial investment. It can also track how many resources have been allocated for execution and what is the optimal way to run the query without hindrance. It also provides good information on worker nodes and how parallel threads are running together.

While we tested and evaluated multiple data service providers, we came to choose Oracle Data Service Integrator since our infrastructure was so heavily dependent on Oracle software. The implementation would be easier and the difference in the number of features and performance wasn't enough to sway us in another direction.

Most of our systems were compatible with Starburst Presto. The dashboard which they provide was fairly intuitive and easy to use. The learning curve wasn't that much. Also, the parallel processing part was an additional feature that we didn't find in many competitive products. The pricing was a little higher but it was worth the trade-off.
