A mature product that gets the job done
Oracle Data Service Integrator was primarily used by our Finance Department for budgetary purposes.The Data Warehouse portion holds the potential to be a rich source of information for all departments across the entire organization, once we show them how powerful it can be. Federated Data Services allow users easy access to a single point of reference for disparate information across the enterprise.
- A greatly improved experience since the redesign of the user interface to be more flow-based
- It integrates well with Oracle GoldenGate
- It reduces data integration costs across heterogeneous systems
- If not bundled with other products, the price can be prohibitively expensive
- SAP connectors tend to be a little expensive and slightly difficult to use
- The audit module had some difficulties debugging failed instances
- It provided terrific bulk data movement and data transformation services which we desperately needed
- It allowed to reduce development costs and lower the total cost of ownership among disparate architectures
- The enterprise edition's ELT allowed us to generate native code for wildly varied RDBMS
Denodo is great, but if you want or need local storage and/or replication, then Oracle Data Service Integrator is the way to go. ODSI allowed us to perform data aggregation and run reports against locally stored data, which was a must in our environment. Oracle is the clear winner when it comes to choosing a mature product that gets the job done.

Oracle Data Service Integrator Review By a Simple Engineer
We currently use Oracle Data Service Integrator to store and handle our USD (User Supply Data). This data is always being received on a daily basis from multiple sources. The use of ODSI helps our development and engineer team store and retrieve this data
- Very easy to use. Very easy to just grab data when needed.
- Very robust and has so many features to move and transform data.
- Functionality is very easy to implement with other Oracle data products.
- While it is very easy to use when working with other Oracle products, it is not as easy to implement with other data storage providers.
- The price is pretty high, which is normal for an Oracle product, but it doesn't appear to have as much bang for the buck.
- The debugging process isn't as easy as we would like. It can be hard to debug failed instances.
- Oracle Data Service Integrator is a quite expensive product, and its costs can be absorbed in some time, but it does grant stability and great flexibility, especially when we need to import huge chunks of data.
- ODSI has helped our data scientist and engineers develop products around what our customers need and want. This is done by using ODSI to track backend data movement
- BusinessObjects Data Integrator and Centerprise Data Integrator
While we tested and evaluated multiple data service providers, we came to choose Oracle Data Service Integrator since our infrastructure was so heavily dependent on Oracle software. The implementation would be easier and the difference in the number of features and performance wasn't enough to sway us in another direction.
