Pentest-Tools.com vs. Scantrics vs. Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator

This website is well suited for organisations that perform regular security assessments. In particular, external scans and reconnaissance. As an example, I am able to run a report on our Wordpress website to enable me to see whether we are missing any important security updates. We found it to be very useful for training new security analysts, due to the straightforward GUI. You can work on the same projects together to help you to do this. Having it laid out in front of them helps them to understand the concepts much easier than using dozens of different tools to achieve the same goals, and also speeds up training. If you're a personal user it may not be appropriate due to price. If you are a personal user, I would advise using the many open source tools there are that do the same things. The strength of this platform is that it combines them into a single pane of glass, but you can achieve the same things with other tools if necessary. For example, there are many other tools that you could use to run a UDP port scan that do not cost money (EG NMAP)

[McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator] seems to be better suited to large enterprise applications... I don't feel it really suits the or self-managed SMB market. The general joe is not going to understand how to wield this product to it's full potential. For those of us managing large networks, this is a very ideal product for managing multiple sites and users.

• Static malware scans for known bad processes and files works well and can be schedules on endpoints easily
• Preventing users from accessing USB drives and other peripherals is easily configured. We can also allow users to access to USB drives with user codes for the times they need it for business reasons.
• ePO provides access into our MSME software so that we're not managing many different products from different locations.
• In recent years the console has gotten much easier to navigate even though there is a ton of information to be accessed.

• No logging for things like scanning. This means you don't actually know when the scan has failed if you're not immediately on the ball.
• Reports could look better. It would be good to be able to customise the report with some different styles to suit your company's branding.
• Could have better tutorials.
• It may be useful to have a feature similar to Microsoft Secure Score, which compares your organisation to similar ones, so that you have a reference of how secure your environment actually is.

• It has a slow mechanism when adding custom threat feeds. For example, if McAfee didn't have a signature or detection about a new virus and we try to add it to our console it is like a really big process in adding that to our available signatures.
• Whenever a scan is performed, the system CPU utilization goes up 100 percent.
• Installation fails due to difference in timestamp when we try to shuffle between packages.

McAfee support is definitely GREAT! It is one of the best technical support on a business level. GOLD support is recommended to business. Their website is easy and quick to create a ticket. Their technical team usually responds right away with an email or call. Via call and web they provide a full and complete support until the issue is resolved. The best, most of the time they explain in detail what is the issue, the reason and how to resolve it.

Offers a great number of tools in one interface, giving you a single pane of glass to work from. Therefore, it's favourable compared to some of these other products, that do similar things but are less intuitive and less easy to use. This makes it not only easier to use, but easier to report results to your customers. Also, although the price point can seem high, once you start adding multiple paid tools that do the same job, there probably isn't a massive amount of difference (if any)

I have used Symantec Endpoint Encryption before. Symantec and EPO are both good in their own ways. EPO allows integration of other McAfee products. I have been using ePolicy Orchestrator for years. I have a lot of experience with the product. That is why I like it.

• Price point allows us to sell the solution at an excellent margin
• Freed up time due to the automated solutions, allowing us to utilise staff better

• Peace of mind that your environment is safe and secure.
• Keep your network environment up and running.
• Additional resources (consulting or training) may be required if not familiar with the product.
• Very complex to setup and configure ( training may be required).
• Once configured, it will take care of almost 80% of your tasks.
