Percepio Tracealyzer vs. Tripwire Enterprise

This is a perfect tool to debug complex bugs in your system, especially in regards to inter-task communication. It is also a great tool for beginners, as the documentation is accessible and the support given by the company is excellent

Tripwire Enterprise is great for hosting/data center environments and it greatly helps where console screenshots and reporting fill a lot of our client internal audit needs for security and change control.

• Great visualization
• Sometimes awkward views (vertical vs horizontal)

• It allows us to track development changes for engineer accountability.
• Tripwire Enterprise also allows us to monitor changes/updates being done to our systems in our hosting centers.
• We use the software to track user access and critical system changes.

• It's not always easy to include/integrate Tracealyzer in the OS build. It would be nice to have a simple install/plug n play method for our target.
• Sometimes, the .bin files from Tracealyzer don't always work and we don't know why

• In previous versions the management console was a little hard to navigate in some respects.
• I'm sure this has changed over time but we hope the reporting system has gotten more granular.
• I really don't have to many cons for this product, I recommend it for every company I work for!

While we started using uCOSIII for our simpler microcontroller products, we also use QNX on more complex targets (full microprocessors) and it is a much more complex platform offering event tracing, memory tracing, and performance measures that are extremely good and integrated. More importantly these tools are fully integrated without any code changes. Tracealyzer is not integrated as much into uCOSIII like QNX's tools, debugger, etc. But, going thru the manual work of adding Tracealyzer to the build, it did help us get to a shippable product.

Honestly, I haven't used other products to do what Tripwire does, it's always my first recommendation.

• Positive: We were able to find some thread priority issues with Tracealyzer.
• Positive: we were able to see timing of events in the sw/hw that we couldn't otherwise see.

• Tripwire has been a positive business impact for us because of its trusted name. Our customers require software like Tripwire because they know their data and security concerns are in good hands when it's deployed.
• The ROI for Tripwire is also a positive for our business because of the time and man power saved in due diligence and reporting for our clients' internal auditing.
