Skrill vs. thinkorswim

Skrill is my preferred way of doing money transactions abroad typically when I need a safe secured and efficient way of sending money overseas and the amount is low. Most other portals tend to charge a transfer fee for lower amounts but Skrill does not charge a transaction fee when I use the ACH Transfer even for lower amounts. For personal use, I have used the debit card to fuel transactions and it allows you the same facility as the debit card. If I need to complete the transaction within a day and want the money to be available in the receiving account overseas the same day, I prefer another portal that has the option of express service that Skrill does not offer.

I would not hesitate to recommend thinkorswim to someone who wants to get into the stock market. The opportunity to use "paper money" can help beginners learn the fundamentals of trading without any risk. Although the trial period is only 60 days, [that's a] good amount of time for new users to learn enough before venturing out into the real world. Adding to the positives, thinkorswim mobile app is superb and a great way to keep up with your portfolio on the go.

• It is a global payment processor that accepts payments from all around the world.
• Because of the high security requirements for signing in, no one can readily access the account.

• Skrill's UI can be bloated and slow sometimes, and overcomplicated
• There are some issues with localization and language, some concepts didn't see to be translated properly
• What an e-wallet is, is not super clear to potential users

We ended up using Tipalti which seems to have solved our specific needs better, though it is more expensive.

I use different payment systems depending on the goal. Skrill is good when my contractor prefers this way of payment. Also, Skrill is a preferred payment option in many online services, which makes it easy to use. Also, Skrill issues a real plastic Visa card you can use like any bank card.

I have personally used Charles Schwab mobile app and online page for about 3 years and have been thoroughly satisfied. Before TD Ameritrade and Charles Schwab merged, I had used thinkorswim for the 60-day paper money trial before using my real money on investments. I confidently believe the time I've spent on thinkorswim has helped me mitigate any big losses in my investments. As for robinhood, the mobile app is a lot better for beginners to understand and the UI can be described as more aesthetically pleasing. thinkorswim triumphs in many other aspects [as well] such as being backed up by TD Ameritrade and Charles Schwab and the plethora of knowledge [a user can access].

• I can quickly deposit my international multi-currency account without making an expensive wire transfer, with no border restriction as long as I have the mobile app with me.
• Skrill is very convenient for each transfer amount up to EURO 2,500, and EURO 15,000/monthly.
• Possibility of hiring freelancers for my company with immediate payments.
