Slate.org vs. Snap Audition

Slate.org is a great tool for reassuring students that documents have been transmitted successfully. The uncertainty in the college process means that students and parents tend to worry about what cannot be seen. Slate.org helps me reassure my students and families that documents have been received.

For small to medium sized arts organizations, all state music auditions, in-school auditions, etc. I see Snap Audtion working very well. When an org needs a high level of specificity it can be a little difficult to make Snap Audition work exactly as you need it, but the team is very responsive.

• Slate.org is constantly looking to expand the schools that participate, building a larger network.
• Slate.org is committed to equity among secondary school partners
• Slate.org regularly seeks feedback to enhance its products

• Allows for comments/feedback of performances
• Login/setup was somewhat straightforward
• Videos loaded quickly and easily with few exceptions

• I'm hopeful to see more development of ease of navigation within the ux
• I'd like to see a larger number of participating universities

• The student audition side could be a little bit easier for middle school students to understand.
• Training Videos that can be sent to families and directors would be helpful.
• A way for teachers to upload auditions instead of each student having to have an account (bulk upload).

I can imagine that it might provide some drawbacks but I only experienced the platform as a judge, not a coordinator

Get Acceptd is basically the only other service out there doing this kind of work. Their price point makes it entirely unusable for almost any organization.
