Actian Analytics Engine

Actian Analytics Engine, formerly Actian Vector, is a columnar analytical database for high-concurrency SQL analytics, real-time data workloads, and AI-enabled applications. It uses a massively parallel processing architecture, vectorized execution, automatic partitioning, and storage indexes to support large-scale analytical queries across on-premises, cloud, and air-gapped deployments.

The database supports standard SQL, BI tools, and data-science environments including Python, Jupyter, VS Code, Docker, and MLflow. It can ingest and query streaming and historical data in the same environment, and transient in-memory tables support intermediate ETL and preprocessing workloads without backup overhead. Built-in monitoring integrates with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.

Analytics Engine 8.0 adds data-lake federation for Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, and Parquet data, including federated SQL and external-object caching. This allows teams to query open table formats alongside data stored in the database without requiring every workload to use a separate query engine.

The platform also includes in-database AI and machine learning capabilities. These include ONNX and TensorFlow inference, vector data types, embedding storage, approximate nearest-neighbor indexing, similarity search, and filtered vector retrieval for retrieval-augmented generation workloads. SQL-based preprocessing functions, GenAI user-defined functions, and an MCP server can connect governed database data and operations to AI applications and compatible agents.

Actian Analytics Engine is designed for organizations that need to retain control of infrastructure, data, and model endpoints. It supports fully on-premises and air-gapped deployment, encryption in transit and at rest, dynamic data masking, column-level de-identification, and user-defined functions that execute inside the database security perimeter.
