Akamai Bot Manager helps me and my customers to gain visibility over the bot traffic vs the real traffic and take the appropriate actions, besides being black or white ( deny/allow) it has another set of options very useful for our infrastructures such as tarpit or delay. Akamai Bot Manager is easy to install on websites and even mobile applications through the SDK package.

They have increased the availability of self-service APIs, allowing us to automate Akamai endpoint management through our completely programmatic devops stack, CI, and CD. The Akamai Bot Manager solution is expensive and takes extensive knowledge to fully utilise.

Pros

To identify the bots, Akamai Bot Manager has already classified over 3000 bot signatures.
The bot console is simple to use and versatile.
The custom bot can be constructed based on your specifications and added to the existing bot database.

Cons

If not correctly calibrated, you may receive a lot of false positives.
We had to make a lot of exceptions because various teams had different needs.
BMP is expensive due to its advanced detection, yet it has the potential to thwart many botnet-based attacks.
