What is Alluxio DA?

Alluxio DA, also presented as Alluxio for Data Analytics, is a distributed caching and data-access layer for large-scale analytics. It sits between analytics engines and persistent storage, caching frequently accessed data closer to compute while keeping the source-of-truth data in cloud object storage, HDFS, NFS, and other supported systems.

The platform helps analytics teams separate storage capacity from storage performance. Data can remain in lower-cost persistent storage while Alluxio’s distributed cache supplies faster access to compute environments running SQL and analytics workloads. This can be useful when compute and storage are separated across regions, clouds, or on-premises environments.

Alluxio DA provides a global unified namespace and a FUSE-based file system that lets applications access mounted storage systems through a consistent interface. Enterprise capabilities include transparent integration that preserves existing storage URIs, automatic bucket mounting, cache and metadata performance enhancements, policy-based data management, cross-cluster synchronization, and integrations with analytics engines such as Trino and Spark.

The product is designed for data-platform teams that need to accelerate interactive queries, analytics workloads, and developer access across distributed storage environments without moving or duplicating source data. Alluxio Community Edition is free with community support; Enterprise DA subscriptions, including SLA-based support, are sold by quote.
