What is Analytica?

Analytica is a visual software environment for building, exploring, and sharing quantitative decision models designed to replace spreadsheets and provide a more intuitive environment to build and run predictive models.

Analytica is available in various editions.

Analytica Cloud Platform (ACP)

Features of Analytica Cloud Platform:
  • Collaborate via the web in building and using Analytica models
  • Cloud-based: no need to download any software, view and run models using a web browser
  • Explore influence diagrams, change inputs, and view result tables and graphs, just like Analytica on the desktop
  • Publish models directly to ACP from the Publish to Cloud option on the Analytica File menu
  • Create web applications and tailor a user interface to the needs of end users beyond the standard Analytica options
  • Set the user-interface style to use tabs or an expandable outline
  • Embed tables and graphs into a user-interface diagram

Analytica for Education
As Analytica was designed by a professor (Max Henrion, when he was teaching at Carnegie Mellon) to improve the quality of decision modeling, it is also presented as an a ideal tool for learning the art and science of creating quantitative decision models. Influence diagrams encourage the learner or user to conceptualize complex problems the same way expert analysts do. By first identifying the key decisions, objectives, and uncertainties, and the influences among them, users can then create the underlying mathematical structure.

Analytica Optimizer
Optimizer is the highest edition level of Analytica. It includes all Enterprise features, plus the addition of solver engines. It discovers decision values that minimize or maximize any quantified objective, subject to constraints. Or, in cases where an objective quantity is not present, it finds feasible solutions within constraint boundaries. It handles Linear Programming, Quadratic Programming, and general Non-Linear Programming, and automatically distinguishes among all of them. Decision variables can be continuous, semi-continuous, discrete (Integer or Boolean), or mixed. Analytica Optimizer integrates optimization capability with all of Analytica’s core features including: Monte Carlo simulation and Intelligent Arrays, simplifying model structure, and improving visual accessibility. It’s presented as a complete decision solution that combines solving power, scalability, and ease of use. It is available via a 30 day trial.
