Use Cases and Deployment Scope
As a staple software for our manufacturing lab, Ansys Fluent is installed in all of our lab computers. We have to it regularly for our design projects. Our lab has research projects as well as industry partnership project going on that require complex fluid flow and aerodynamics modeling. It is widely used for designing the aerodynamic models of our components.
Pros
- Hotspots at our designed machine components
- Airflow around 3D printed machine components
- Pipeflow for cooling systems which is a supporting system for our primary machine
Cons
- The interface is challenging for teaching new users
- A lightweight version would be great for older pc that we have in our labs
- Turbulence modeling can have more tutorials
Return on Investment
- Given the industry wide acceptance, we have to offer this to students
- It adds additional value to our main design products
- However, if licensing fees could be negotiated better, it would be better
