Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I'ver been scraping relative lead data from reviews and enrichment sites in order to make intellegent, targeted lead bases that specifically look for operational friction that my partner solutions can help me solve. I scrape Google reviews, have that data analyzed by AI and then scrape and look for contact and hiring data.

Easy forms

Cons

Some of these actors are useless
I am having a problem finding accurate contact data
There are too many of the same actors and it becomes confusing.

The data I get is much cheaper and targeted than what I would find other places.

I am starting to create funnels and scenarios for my Commercial Lending business. We have found Apify's web scraper to be very useful in achieving our goals. The platform is relatively easy to use and it does not cost very much for the service it provides. I would recommend anyone who is looking to find leads to try it. Thanks

I am a small developer trying to contribute to the community and I found Apify as one of the best tool to do that. They have best UI and development environment that I have used so far. The CLI and the Editor version are also amazing as a developer I have enjoyed it very much. Talking about the customer support it is the best one so far. I have also been a user for the Apify and the market is huge and it has ton of tools that are open source. I would recommend it to everyone

One of my friends in Denmark wanted to search for startups in the EU startup marketplace "TheHub". Then he introduced me to Apify. Apify seems interesting to me, therefore I started learning this platform and also started developinga crawler for "TheHub". Apify surprised me a lot because it gives developers the independence to build an Actor that meets their needs and provides a serverless platform where they can earn passive income. As an independent developer and entrepreneur, this is a golden opportunity to test my skills and innovate something. Most exiting thing is that you can easily integrate its API endpoints into other applications or frontend and also connect to the MCP server to the MCP clients.

Cons

I think monetization part needs some improvement. Sometimes it stops working.
Second issue is that when you run actor locally on your device using Apify run command, it runs fine and does not show errors. However, when you run on Apify platform, it starts showing error that this python based library is not supported etc. I think, error logging needs to be improved.
Issue support is very slow. If you create an issue it takes a lot of time that somebody reply.
Automated testing also needs to be improved. Testers run simple tests and if extra keys are used or something else, test is failed.

Likelihood to Recommend

I used other platforms such as n8n and make.com, and Apify seems more reliable because it is built for real developers. It gives much more independence than other platforms. Maybe in terms of storage and processing speed needs to be improvement for AI-generated content.

The pricing model works well for my use case since I only pay for what I actually use. Most importantly, it just works. I've had consistent results without babysitting the runs.

I don't see any areas except perhaps having separate sections for rented actors versus pay-as-you-go.

We use Apify to scrape web data from various sources including Google News and Linkedin, as well as generate lead lists from various sources. Using Apify actors allows us to extract this data (mostly) without the need of applying cookies of our personal profiles. The Apollo actor was very useful when it worked. However ever since Apollo made changes and made that actor obsolete, the quality of the lead scraping actors has somewhat declined.

Cons

Some actors are very expensive and offer limited value - $120 / month before event charges? That's insane. The monthly price also isn't listed in the main search screen, so you need to go in manually to each actor to ascertain how much it really costs
Some actors often break after a while and you need to start searching for new ones... but I guess that's the price for relying on 3rd party actors in your marketplace
The review/quality process isn't great to navigate when looking for a new tool.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you're looking for Linkedin data sourcing and for lead generation, Apify is definitely a cost-effective tool. The only issue is that you cannot necessarily bank a long-term process on it as you never know if an Actor is going to change or outright become unusable after a while. This is maybe the biggest downside.

To get all sorts of api calls in one place and manage all of them in one platform marketplace. In our use case we have several api calls to different actors that get us the info in an organized way, at scale, available only in one place and directly into our automations at fernanz.com

Not their fault: Some of their 3rd party actors have open issues for months and there seems to be no response from them, even though they are associated to Apify. Perhaps they could enforce some kind of response from their 3rd parties in order to be listed by them.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for scrapping or pulling data that is hard to come by. For example, Airbnb data, Gmaps data, weather, and others. They enable the use of limits and other options to ensure the accounts in production doesn't drain.
