CaseScan is a visual-content detection platform for identifying child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and other high-risk imagery and video. It supports Trust & Safety, moderation, and compliance teams at content platforms, as well as law-enforcement units conducting child-exploitation investigations.

Key Capabilities

Known and novel-content detection: Exact and perceptual hashing compares media with verified CSAM databases, while deep-learning image and video classifiers assess previously unseen and AI-generated material. Both methods operate in a single detection pipeline.
Context-based validation: The Context Analysis engine evaluates potential matches to distinguish prohibited content from benign edge cases, including medical imagery, family photos, and lawful adult content.
Configurable detection profiles: Customers can choose an operating profile that prioritizes precision, reviewable coverage, or maximum recall. CaseScan reports lab-measured per-image recall rates ranging from 69.34% to 95.48%, with false-positive rates varying by profile and production traffic.
Platform ingestion and response workflows: APIs and SDKs process uploads, stored files, avatars, chat attachments, and live streams. Detections can return risk scores, recommended actions, and structured evidence files.
Compliance and intelligence workflows: A dashboard records incidents and takedowns, supports evidence-kit exports for NCMEC reporting and regulatory documentation, and provides a threat-intelligence feed based on observed threat networks.
Law-enforcement triage: CaseScan can operate on-scene without internet or database access to triage media on a 256 GB or larger device. Integrated blurring reduces investigators’ exposure to graphic material, while configurable workflows support unit security requirements.
Additional visual-risk detection: The Context Analysis engine also assesses imagery associated with narcotics, weapons, gang iconography, counterfeit currency, graphic violence, identity documents, and chat screenshots.

Audience & Use Cases

Audience: Trust & Safety, content moderation, compliance, digital-forensics, and child-exploitation investigation teams.
Platform use cases: User-generated-content platforms, cloud and file-sharing providers, advertising-verification services, and organizations operating community features can screen media before or after publication.
Law-enforcement use cases: ICAC units and digital-forensic examiners can prioritize devices and evidence during field and laboratory investigations.

Technical Specifications

Architecture: Cloud-native, stateless, auto-scaling API with horizontal scaling for variable media volumes.
Media handling: Under its stated Zero Media Retention policy, CaseScan processes images in volatile memory without storing them on disk.
Performance: CaseScan states that its service handles billions of media files per day, with end-to-end P95 response times below one second and P99 response times below two seconds.
Detection deployment: The same detection core supports platform-side prevention and law-enforcement investigation workflows.
