ClickSambo
What is ClickSambo?
ClickSambo is Click Fraud software for Google Ads and Meta Ads (Facebook, Instagram, and Audience Network). It classifies paid clicks in real time, excludes invalid traffic (bots, competitors, click farms, VPN/proxy/Tor, and other fraudulent sources), and sends quality signals back to each platform’s bidding model. Marketing Analytics in the product is the click-level and campaign-level reporting of that traffic across both networks.
Key Capabilities
- Google Ads IP exclusion: Clicks that exceed account click-fraud thresholds are written to Google’s IP exclusion list through the Google Ads API, including full malicious IP ranges when click farms rotate addresses. Operators can block or unblock any IP. A trusted IP whitelist (up to 100 addresses) keeps office, team, and agency traffic out of those rules. Detection layers include click thresholds, non-JavaScript browsers, VPN/proxy/Tor, a machine-learning bot score (1–100), and device fingerprinting. The core product excludes IPs from seeing the ads; it does not stop those IPs from loading the website if they arrive another way.
- Conversion signals (Beta): Invalid clicks are sent to Google Ads as offline conversions under the action ClickSambo Fraud Click Block. That action must be set to a Secondary optimization goal so Smart Bidding does not treat fraud events as a target. Initial sync takes 4–8 hours; batches of 100 conversions are pushed thereafter. Negative signals cover bots, VPN/proxy traffic, zero-second visits, and click farms. On the Enterprise plan, positive signals can be sent for interactions such as 30+ seconds on page, 50%+ scroll, forms, and other real conversions.
- Circuit Breaker (monthly add-on): When fake clicks cluster on one keyword, device type, or region, Circuit Breaker pauses only that channel through the Google Ads API, then restores it when the protection window ends. Keyword pauses use AdGroupCriterionService.MutateAdGroupCriteria; device shutdowns apply a −100% campaign bid adjustment; geographic narrowing adds a temporary negative location criterion. Thresholds and durations are set per account. Monitoring mode logs what would have paused before automated actions are turned on. Safety rails include a maximum actions-per-hour cap, a minimum fraud rate and volume, exemption lists, and a rule that the last active keyword or device in a group is not closed.
- Shield (managed add-on): A gate in front of the landing page inspects connection, device fingerprint, and prior behavior before the site loads. Flagged visitors never reach forms, analytics, or the origin server; later attempts from the same source are recognized. ClickSambo’s team configures the checkpoint with no site code changes. Search-engine review bots are safelisted so ad approvals are not interrupted. Shield does not refund the click that already occurred at the ad platform.
- Meta Ads protection (Enterprise): Meta does not allow IP or device blocking. Fraudulent visitors are sent to the pixel as a FraudulentVisit event through the Conversions API, collected into a custom audience (ClickSambo Fraudulent Visitors), and excluded on every active ad set, with 30–180 days of retention. Detection uses per-IP and per-device click thresholds, VPN/proxy/Tor flags, behavioral analysis, and hourly reconciliation of Meta-reported outbound clicks against visits that reached the site.
- Instant Form lead scoring: Each Facebook/Instagram Instant Form lead is scored on four layers (content, behaviour, shared memory, ad context) using 28+ signals, including more than 8,700 disposable-email domains. Fraudulent emails and phones are hashed into a customer-list exclusion audience. Stages are reported to Meta as Received, Qualified, or Disqualified through Conversion Leads so Advantage+ delivery trains on real customers. Analysed leads can be posted to a customer HTTPS endpoint as JSON signed with HMAC-SHA256.
- Reporting: Google and Meta dashboards show IP, device, ISP, geography, placement, campaign, and fraud type. Meta reporting splits clicks Meta counted from clicks that arrived on-site, by campaign, ad, placement, and country. Shared-memory matching on Instant Forms compares encrypted fingerprints; personal data is not shared across advertisers.
