Cloudcraft is used to design, plan, and visualize AWS infrastructure for documentation purposes, cost analysis, and budgeting. The tool provides a quick and accurate overview of expected costs for given AWS infrastructures, allowing for preparing blueprints for cloud architecture design through diagrams, budget, and component attachments. It helps in changing the configuration based on usage, estimating compute power, and saving money.

Users can utilize Cloudcraft's API feature to build, read, modify, and remove designs in their blueprint, share them with team members, view cost metrics and configurations of each component, and utilize cloud libraries for overviewing resource distributions in the AWS platform. Cloudcraft provides representation of the architecture that a non-technical person can understand with little effort, making it one of the major tools used regularly for work.

The diagrams created through the tool are used to explain platform architecture to decision-makers who may not be particularly technical. These diagrams are helpful in punching up proposals and charting company AWS resources. Cloudcraft also helps to map out SAAS applications to show customers what will be implanted and show differences from what was previously used. In summary, Cloudcraft is an essential tool that businesses use to comprehend their AWS infrastructure visually while configuring their resources based on usage to save money.

Ease of Use: Many users have mentioned that Cloudcraft is extremely user-friendly and easy to use. The software's drag-and-drop interface makes it effortless for users to create diagrams, resulting in some of the best-looking diagrams available.

Cost Estimation: Reviewers appreciate the cost calculation feature offered by Cloudcraft, which makes it easy to estimate infrastructure costs during the design stage. Additionally, many users find the detailed reports of AWS monthly budgets very helpful in planning and managing expenses.

Integration with AWS: Users find Cloudcraft's integration with AWS to be very helpful, allowing them to see their existing infrastructure while building new diagrams. Several reviewers also appreciated the ability to import existing AWS infrastructure from an account into Cloudcraft.

High Pricing: Some users have expressed that Cloudcraft's pricing is too high, especially for individual users, startups, or consultants. A few reviewers mentioned that the jump in pricing from free to $49 per user does not make sense for individuals and that it could work if a company pays for it but not as an individual. Others stated that the software was expensive and overwhelming for larger organizations.

AWS-Specific: Several users feel that Cloudcraft is too AWS-specific and lacks support for other cloud providers like GCP or Azure. Some reviewers noted that the software only supports AWS, making it difficult for those who use other cloud providers or are interested in multi-cloud solutions. Others stated that there were limitations in the software, such as the inability to enter negotiated prices or lack of tight integration with some IaaS providers.

Challenging User Interface: A common issue reported by some users was finding the user interface challenging to use, especially when compared to competitors like Draw.io. Some reviewers found it confusing when trying to import an existing environment while others had trouble with labeling certain key features and symbols' consistency for specific resources. Additionally, a few users mentioned that complex diagrams made it difficult to show arrows at specific positions, making it less intuitive than desired.

Users commonly recommend Cloudcraft for the following reasons:

  1. Integration with other cloud providers and addition of Linux-related items: Users suggest that Cloudcraft should expand its compatibility beyond AWS and integrate with other cloud providers. They also recommend including Linux-related components to cater to a wider range of users.

  2. Worth the investment: Many users believe that Cloudcraft is worth the investment, even for a short period of time. They find it helpful for displaying the environment in a visually appealing manner and recommend trying the free version before committing to a paid plan. They mention that Cloudcraft stands out as a superior tool compared to others on the market.

  3. Efficient workflow creation and AWS visualization: Users highly recommend Cloudcraft for creating diagrams and visualizing AWS solutions. They find it easy to use, even for individuals without a technical background, and recommend it for architects, DevOps professionals, and infrastructure experts. They suggest exploring the free trial and taking advantage of Cloudcraft's features to make workflows more efficient.

Overall, users suggest trying out Cloudcraft for its ease of use, customization options, efficient workflow creation, and visualization capabilities for AWS solutions. They also emphasize the value for money it offers compared to other tools available in the market.
