Blackbox Shipping - A Proven Way to Process More Shipments, Faster, with Lower Staffing Requirements 

In this video, Rick Williams with Creative Logistics Solutions shows you how you can significantly boost efficiency integrating your multi-carrier shipping software system to your host ERP or WMS for automatic shipment processing, bypassing the need for workers to work on a shipping screen. Black box shipping encompasses a wide variety of shipping processes. In essence, it means removing the need for a GUI shipping screen that most people are familiar with.

For example, many shippers may take their packages from a dedicated packing area and move them over to a dedicated shipping station where an employee processes the shipment working via a computer screen.

What CLS has done here is eliminate the need for having two separate stations and the extra tasks related to moving packages from one station to the other. What we've found is that this can eliminate hours and hours of time and labor, and enable your order fulfillment operations to boost shipping throughput by 2X or more without the need for adding temporary staff.

In this video, the worker takes a package and places it on the scale. She's scanning the inside label for a carton ID, which automatically triggers the shipment process. At that point, the InfoShip/VX shipping system is performing business processes in the background - it may be rate and service shopping, producing a logo label, or a wide variety of shipping logo'ed labels – automatically, for the user. InfoShip/Vx prints the shipping labels, and the worker applies them to the processed shipment. 

All of these processes are streamlined and managed on one combined pack and ship station, eliminating the need to have separate workers working at individual packing stations and separate shipping stations.
