We use dbvis to test database connections during the installation of our product on customers' servers. This lets us verify that a connection is not 'lost' on the way to the database. As we use JDBC as our primary connection method, DBIS provides an easy, additional, and independent way to test the connection. We use dbvis to check stored data, review table structures and metadata (e.g., when selects or inserts fail), and verify table permissions for the user who is having connection issues. We love the in-cell data editing feature, which is much easier than building SQL queries for every entry. This also allows a quick manual review of the stored data, even with large tables, and fixes the most obvious errors instantly. We test, build, and also 'deconstruct' SQL queries when there is a need to check on long-running queries. This helps us identify, for example, misused indices and other issues. We use it to easily export complete tables and data for a wide variety of DBMS for our customers and ourselves. It helps us visualize relationships and identify faults that are often not obvious within our codebase.

It allows us to replace several proprietary tools for accessing and, in part, managing database systems. It gives our customers and us a single base to work on databases. No need for us or them to install, learn, and pay for multiple solutions. If one would, for example, use ONLY one dbms, e.g., PostgreSQL, then DBVis could be a bit of an overkill.

DbVisualizer makes this very simple with easy integrations to every type of database we’ve needed to connect to, with a fantastic UI that makes working across databases easy and all in one spot.

Would be great if we could update individual JSONB properties directly in the JSON viewer window.
Sometimes, when a table structure is changed (e.g., adding columns), the changes are not reflected when viewing the table because the old structure is still cached.

It has been immensely helpful for data exploration in relational databases. SQL Commander is very capable (and scriptable) for quickly investigating data and testing queries.

I perform Data Engineering with DbVisualizer to power our the analytics of our entire company. The product is great for not only that, but also writing ad hoc queries and doing deep analytics. Its easy to export data into Excel and also add/update rows or values within the tool without needing to write the UPDATE statement yourself. Its easy to use and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice IDE.

organising all my connections in to folders and marking them as prod with yellow and black stripes
the filters so I can hide database objects that I am not interested in

I would like to see the "References" tab and its functionality expanded to allow it become even more powerful to support documentation requirements

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The product I am in charge of requires data from 6 different sources across a handful of different driver types to run monthly processes. DbVis allows my analysts & me to have access to all sources in one convenient program.

Pros

Supports numerous drivers (Snowflake, SQL Server, Teradata, Hive, DB2, etc.)
Allows for full data set to be extracted (no forced row limits/"sample data" pull before the actual pull)
Customizable settings for font colors, processing capacity

Cons

Small, but noticeable: it would be nice to be able to highlight just one column of a data output for copy/paste by clicking on the column header (a feature some of us are accustomed to from SQL Server Management Studio)
Is there an ability to bulk import an excel file to a table in a connected SQL Server in DbVis? If so, I haven't figured that out yet. I still largely use Microsoft SSMS to import data to our team's personal SQL Server, but can easily query that server via DbVis)
(I really don't have any major complaints - our company has tried to steer users toward DBeaver for YEARS, which I cannot stand. DbVis knocks the beaver out of the water)

Likelihood to Recommend

DbVisualizer is most helpful for our team because it allows us (under my Pro license) to have multiple tabs open running different code simultaneously from different platforms. Other than the lack of upload capability (or lack of knowledge of that capability on my part), there isn't much I'd choose other tools for over DbVis.
