Edit+ is a great text editor and a good alternative to Notepad++. I use Edit+ as a normal text editor (instead of Notepad) and I also use it to write scripts (shell or python scripts mostly). It is very lightweight and has some level of customization available. It can open large files without lagging which is a plus. It also supports multiple languages, has syntax highlighting, and also tells about syntax errors in the programs I write.
  • Lightweight and easy to use.
  • Some level of Customization.
  • Multi Language Support.
  • Plugins Support
  • More Customization
Edit+ is well suited for basic tasks like using it as a to-do list or writing basic scripts or using it for simple programs that aren't too long or complex.
  • Lightweight, Fast, and easy to use.
  • Can open big files without lag.
  • I have not been involved in that aspect. I am just a user.
  • Notepad++

A great editor for many languages, and formats. Built-in and customizable templates used to simplify editing. Multi-file search for any string, including special characters. Very inexpensive for all of it's power.
  • Multi-file search.
  • Special character handling
  • Huge file loading, fast simple interface.
  • Keep it simple, fast and easy
  • Change without need is wasteful
  • It's already perfect, sheesh...
Any scenario were file editing and management is needed. Has a built compiler link that can be setup for any program.
  • Easy of use, flexible as well
  • Cost
  • Upgrades for free.
  • Irreplaceable. Every aspect of my business has been affected
  • I could not have done some of tasks I was asked to do, without it.
you don't show the editors I've used in the ancient past....!

EditPlus used to be our preferred text editor for coding. We replaced EditPlus with Sublime Text and Visual Studio Code. The reason we switched was because EditPlus wasn't widely used in the field and we want to use the tools that are well supported.
  • Decent overall text editor for any programming language you want to use.
  • Can customize your layout/color scheme to fit your needs.
  • Not well supported by community
  • Lacks plugins/extension other well known editors have.
Well suited for coding in a lightweight text editor. If you do not need advanced plugins to support customized needs and just want to code away this is a perfect choice for you.
  • There is a cost too for the editor, and even though it is not really that pricey we ended moving away to another option.
Not well supported, lacks functionality other editors have.
