What is Firefly?

Firefly is a Cloud Asset Management solution that enables DevOps, SRE, and Cloud Platform teams to rediscover their entire cloud footprint, understand which parts of it are codified as IaC vs unmanaged, codify unmanaged assets into Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), then continuously maintain alignment between an actual cloud configuration and the desired state. The user can manage a single inventory of all cloud resources across Multi-Cloud, Kubernetes, and SaaS applications and apply policies and governance consistently across an entire cloud infrastructure.

Firefly aims to make it is easy to manage complex cloud at scale using IaC. Key capabilities include:

Visibility

  • Real-time cloud inventory of actual cloud assets across multi-cloud services, multiple accounts and Kubernetes, along with infrastructure-as-code (IaC). Continuous scanning overcomes latency and inaccuracy of conventional CMDBs.
  • Inventory of SaaS configurations for apps like Datadog, Okta, etc. (any Terraform Provider).

Codification

  • Intelligent scanning turns unmanaged cloud resources into IaC such as Terraform, Pulumi, and Helm.
  • Includes dependencies and modules.

Continuous assessment

  • Real-time alerts for new assets, configuration drift, and policy violations
  • Remediation to fix drift, misconfiguration or policy violation via a pull request. Deployment is user-controlled

Governance

  • Asset History stores the state of individual resources for the entire cloud, including deleted assets, enabling disaster recovery.
  • Policy-as-Code applies best practices for cost, reliability, and misconfiguration.
  • AI-driven custom rules ensure tagging and compliance with company and industry requirements.
  • Policies for individual assets or across your entire cloud ensure your cloud constantly holds its desired state.
  • SaaS app configuration consistency and recoverability.
