What is Flux?

Flux is browser-based PCB Design and electronic design automation (EDA) software with a built-in AI assistant for hardware development. The assistant can help plan projects, generate schematics from natural-language prompts, select and place components, route traces, and review designs against electrical and design rules. Projects run in a web browser and support real-time collaboration among multiple engineers.

Core capabilities

  • AI assistance for project planning, schematic generation, component selection, placement, routing, and design review
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout with continuous electrical rule checks and design rule checks
  • Real-time multi-user editing and project collaboration
  • Component libraries with sourcing information and datasheet context
  • Bill of materials (BOM), Gerber, drill-file, pick-and-place, and standard netlist exports for manufacturing
  • Altium ASCII and Cadence EDIF schematic imports and KiCad component-library imports; PCB layout import is not currently supported

Who uses it
Flux is designed for individual engineers, startups, and hardware teams developing electronics such as connected sensors, embedded controllers, wearables, robotics, and processor boards. It provides a browser-based alternative to desktop EDA products such as Altium Designer and KiCad.

Plans and AI usage
Individual subscriptions include Explore, Build, and Pro plans. Teams provides shared workspaces, pooled AI usage, and centralized billing, while Enterprise adds organization-level security, support, and purchasing options. Monthly and annual billing are available.

AI consumption is measured in Agent Compute Units (ACUs). Plans include an allowance that replenishes monthly, while Build, Pro, and Teams support optional pay-as-you-go usage. A 14-day trial provides access to all features with limited AI usage. After the trial, a paid plan is required to edit private projects, export project files, and use the AI features; users can continue accessing public projects and the Flux community without a paid subscription.
