We are using FME to handle the spatial data processing. For example, reprojection, intersect and locate. Sometime we also use it to do the data loading. Recently we are trying to use it to replace one of our existing software.
  • I used that to create the polyline
  • Used that to do the reprojection
  • Used that to extract spatial data
  • Used that to do the intersect
  • Used that to do the locate
  • Should allow script to change the database connection
  • Should provide more details and user friendly error log information
I created the FME script to generate the centerline polyline. It works very well and faster than we used the Esri api from the code side.

  • Easy to create and easy to understand when compare to the Esri api code
  • Difficult to debug when the error happens
FME not only be able to do the data transfer and transformation, but also be able to perform the spatial process. Astera cannot do the spatial process at the moment.
