IBM Confluent Platform for Z and LinuxONE is an enterprise event-streaming platform certified to run on Linux on the IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE s390x processor architecture. Built on Apache Kafka, the platform stores, processes, and distributes operational data as continuous event streams for applications, analytics systems, automation workflows, and artificial intelligence services.
The offering allows organizations to deploy Kafka-based streaming infrastructure on Linux systems located alongside applications and data running on IBM Z or LinuxONE. The certification applies to Linux on s390x and does not provide native deployment on the z/OS operating system.

The IBM certification covers most capabilities available in Confluent Platform, Confluent for Kubernetes, and Confluent Flink. As of IBM’s June 2026 certification notice, the following capabilities are not certified or available for this deployment:
- Red Hat Operator Catalog distribution
- Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) compliance support
- Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)
- Unified Stream Manager Agent
- Confluent Platform for Apache Kafka Gateway
- Native z/OS deployment

- Java Runtime: OpenJDK 17 or later; IBM recommends IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition 17 or later
- Command-Line Interface: An s390x-compatible standalone Confluent command-line interface package may be required instead of the version bundled with the platform distribution
- Deployment Formats: RPM, Debian, TAR, container image, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Docker
