IBM Semeru Runtimes is available in two editions with different licenses:
  • IBM Semeru Runtimeâ„¢ Certified Edition has an IBM license and is a Java Platform, Standard Edition compatible implementation.
  • IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition has an open source license (GPLv2+Classpath extension).

Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We have an area in charge of IT that is related to JAVA applications used in human resources. As a human resources generalist, I assist in the integration of these applications because the coding of options is closely related to what we do. What Semeru does for us is to give us extra support in this case, they can modify, create or maintain java applications very well together with our servers.
Pros and Cons
  • compared with other traditional systems, this one has a better cost-quality ratio.
  • It allows us to run a large number of libraries at the same time and that is a great advantage.
  • App monitoring is phenomenal and takes very little time to learn or code.
  • The support is quite complex and we don't like it.
  • The compilation and the process gets slow and too slow when there are random connections.
Likelihood to Recommend
I would recommend it, it has the latest from IBM with IBM z that perhaps together with high-end processors of the latest technology make a spectacular relationship.I suppose that a good team of engineers is necessary, this is not for apprentices.If you are in that situation, I recommend starting with a program with not so many details or settings.
Return on Investment
  • There has been a favorable change of 4% in the same day of starting to compile and use more effectively the monitoring of apps in real time.
  • Eclipse OpenJ9 Java VM helps to virtualize what is being understood quickly and easily, I only repeat the lags that we do not know so far why they happen.
  • Let's talk about engineers and this allows an impressive human cost to be reduced, going from 4 professionals to only 2 who attend the program and the others to be able to dedicate themselves to another situation in the company.
