Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were looking for a visual recognition service to integrate into our app to help the user with their nutrition and health. The user just needed to use the service offered by IBM and then our algorithms would process the data received. IBM Watson Visual Recognition proved to be up to the task by making our app achieve its purpose with great success.

Pros

  • Easy to use interface, you can just drag and drop the images in the negative and positive dropboxes to train.
  • It's affordable and there is a free version to test for yourself and check if it's useful for you.
  • Easy to integrate with apps using one single API key and you can train easily with your terminal.

Cons

  • Not perfect
  • Accuracy is doubted and sometimes it may not predict correctly.
  • I think it should be improved and should add a few more functionalities.

Return on Investment

  • Its affordable and can be employed in small apps.
  • The free version enables us to use it in our less trafficked web apps and in the future, you may switch to the standard version from premium.
  • Overall performance will be berated as average.
