Interpretwise
What is Interpretwise?
Interpretwise is a platform for AI simultaneous interpretation at conferences, corporate meetings, webinars, and hybrid or live-streamed events. It translates a speaker's audio into other languages in real time and delivers it to attendees as audio or live captions on their own devices, in place of rented interpreter booths, headsets, and receivers.
Key Capabilities
- Attendee access: Attendees scan a QR code or open a browser link, choose a language, and listen on a phone or laptop. No app or account is required, and listening uses about 0.15 Mbps per listener. The vendor states that an organizer can set up an event in about 15 minutes.
- Languages: The platform supports more than 80 languages in any pair and direction, with automatic language detection and failover across multiple engines. Synthetic voices are offered in Premium and Standard tiers. The vendor reports about five seconds from speech to interpreted audio.
- Live captions and subtitles: A transparent caption overlay works with OBS, vMix, projectors, and LED walls, and font size, position, and background are configurable. The platform is intended to make events accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees and to support goals under the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the European Accessibility Act.
- Human interpreters: A browser-based interpreter console supports remote interpretation, booth partner handover, and relay, protected by a per-event code. Each language channel can be set to AI, human, or human with AI on standby.
- Audio and AV integration: Audio can come from USB or Dante interfaces at 48 kHz. Each language leaves on its own channel, as line-level or Dante output, and infrared and FM receivers keep working. A free Mac app, Interpretwise Console, handles multichannel routing. The vendor also names Bosch and Televic systems.
- Meeting platforms and streaming: The vendor lists Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Webex, and states that any platform that can output an audio feed works. A per-language Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) output streams dubbed audio to YouTube or any RTMP platform in sync with the video.
- Recordings: Uploaded audio or video becomes a speaker-labeled transcript, with word-level confidence flags for uncertain words. A 60-second preview precedes a full dub with synthetic voices, and transcripts can be exported as SRT or VTT subtitle files.
- Multilingual meetings: Video meetings can let each participant speak and hear their own language.
- Terminology: Custom terminology can be added for specialized vocabulary.
- Data handling and tenancy: The vendor states that the service is GDPR-compliant and hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU. White-label branding and a dashboard are available to agencies and AV companies.
- Pricing model: Usage is billed in credits, with a free trial and no credit card required.
